So what does this mean for the rest of us that arent in these states? Is it required or not at 60k...i know its recommended but why is there a note saying to do it at 105k?
i know this isnt an answer to the OP'er but i believe it falls into the same lines of saving money and having more time to prepare for an expense of a required maintenance action.
I know the Federal Government has required car manufacturers to warranty emission parts since 1972. I am guessing the above states have passed their own emission standards and Mitsubishi
is stating that changing the timing belt is not an emissions warrantied service. In other words, you don't get the work done for free.

Which dealer did you go to? I've had a pretty good experience with Gillman Mitsu on some warranty work (rear wiper and check struts). I hate Hub Mitsu.

WoW i couldnt imagine spending that much for a timing belt... thats insane. I got the timing belt package from Massimo power (great deal on that!) and i installed it myself. was there also a 60k service they charged you for? fluids oil change ect...?

Schaller Mistubishi, New Britain CT, yeah i know i got owned, but hey it was done right and that is worth some peace of mind. Once the warranty is up trust i will bring it somewhere else. But you know how mitsubishi is about other techs touching there cars.
They think that they are the only ones qualified or something

I was also thinking of doing camshafts in the car right away, should I just do that at the same time too?
Thanks
i had one mitsu dealer installed my cams and timing belt. They only charged me labor for cams installation. Plus 80 bucks for the belt that's all.

Yea great advice. OP once the belt stetches or breaks take the engine apart and replace all the valves you just bent, and the pistons you just crashed them into.

I guess that seems like the better option
