Question Need Opinions on Minor Accident

As a key note:
My brother drives an 06' Graphite Grey Evo IX
I drive an 05' Pearl White Evo VIII

About a month ago, my area was hit with a blizzard. When the snow storm passed after a couple days, most roads were decent when driving, however the side roads were a little dicey. My brother and I were excited to try out our traction control under the snow option to see just how well it did handle without being foolish.

We pulled into a local 7-eleven and bought something to drink and talked about the cars briefly. Then we decided to leave and head back home which was about 2 minutes away, literally.

My brother backed out first and started moving toward the exit on the side which I followed behind him. He was about 15 feet in front of me when he stopped his car due to a car coming the way we were turning. I was going about 5-8mph when I saw that he stopped I had about 10 feet, my ABS locked up and I slid right into him giving his car a minor jerk.

We pulled over and assessed the damages. His rear had minor paint chipping about 2 inches long right next to the license plate. I assessed my car and noticed there were minor pressure cracks at the nose of the front bumper of my car, directly under the mitsubishi emblem.

Overall, the damages on both vehicles are not that noticeable at all. Instead of going through the insurance company since we just got our own insurance not too long ago, I decided to pay for this out of my own pocket.

I received two quotes which I will only mention one considering they were both around the same price, give or take 50 dollars.

To fix my brothers car, they want to take off the entire rear bumper and repaint it....$417 dollars.

Since my vehicle is a special color (pearl white) which requires more paint materials, they wanted to repaint my entire front bumper and replace the mitsubishi emblem......$565 dollars.

Of course since this was my fault, I am paying for my brothers repairs ($417) no problem. My question to you guys is, is it even worth forking out almost $600 to get my front bumper fixed? You would literally have to know my car was hit in the front to see the pressure marks...It's seriously not that noticeable.

I am torn right now because I love my car but will always know in the back of my head that it has minor damage in the front....What would you guys do?Please post opinions. I will upload pics when I get home...I can't right now.

And please, save your flames for someone else, i'm having an extremely bad day and don't feel like being called a noob considering my ABS locked up due to the snow/ice from the blizzard when I was going 5 mph before I hit my brother. I simply want your opinions on what I should do regarding repairs.

If you would like, please post your body work stories, I know you guys have some :-)

Thanks again guys,
Randy

Haha my car is a salvage and I have no doubts about it. I wouldnt worry about it look at it this way even if you paint it and get it all done if you drive the car as a DD it will get scratches and marks. I wouldnt worry about it that much.

I honestly wouldnt worry about it. Fact is, the car is a DD and over the years will get natural damage from rocks, ice, hail, etc.

Save the $600

Yeah, I was thinking about waiting until Spring/Summer time to get that fixed on my car. Would like to save up the cash first instead of putting it on my credit card.

Wait three months. If it's still driving you crazy, then get it fixed. You probably won't care after a while as you'll accumulate a few chips here and there and it'll no longer be perfect.

I honestly wouldn't do it at all......your going to pay $600 to get it repainted, only to be paying that again after the next hail storm....just take it as is and roll with it. The car is NOT garage kept and it's a DD....after 2 - 3 years it will have stress marks, dings, chipped paint, the whole 9 yards.

Buy a Unpainted evo9 front bumper from someone on here or unpainted and go with the newer look. It might cost you less buying a used bumper, being that you would have to get you're current one repainted reguardless.

How much does the car mean to you ? If it's just a daily driver then don't worry about it.Sounds to me though like it's bothering you and would rather paint it.

I will probably get it repainted in the spring/summer timeframe. Right now, I need to save some cash.

If this hasn't already been taken care of, you should check out 'The Car Guys' -- you can pm me for detail. They did a repaint on my front bumper (just regular wear and tear), full inside and out detail AND clear shielded the **** out of her. They are not going to be much cheaper but I can vouch for their top notch work.

When it comes to aesthetics with everything from full multi stage pro detailing to dent and paint repair, these guys definitely know their ****.
