Windshield Damage from A-Pillar?
Windshield Damage from A-Pillar?
The thread below reminded me of the crack that's been sitting on my front windshield for a while now - I'll repost here instead of thread jacking:
I grazed the passenger side A pillar with a tree (in a spin backwards into a ditch), and the surface of the pillar was grazed and looked just messed up in general - I took it to my shop guy and he said it was just surface damage, and fixed it up, looked perfect. This was around November 2008.
Around July of 2009, i got a crack in the windshield kind of directly in front of the driver out of nowhere - I didn't get hit with a rock chip or anything like that
you guys think it's related?? I also seem to remember a time when I've dropped the wiper kind of hard on the car, but that was a loooong time ago, and the wiper was still on.. I can barely remember if that actually happened or I'm just making it up.
:edit:
I think I've found the real cause: I guess it was dropping the wiper so so long ago, and then sitting out in the sun, I guess it did it - otherwise, no idea where that small mark is from

Most likely not related. It's probably just a stress crack. It happened when I had my evo without there being any body damage, just hit a decent sized pothole or something and the windshield cracked.
Dude, what do you want? A group of forensic scientists to run a study on the windshield?
It's cracked, most likely from either impact or stress. The chip definitely looks like it could have been a stress riser for the crack to propagate from. It's probably not from your A-post damage months before.
