I had one of the only evo 9's in Quebec when I lived there for school. Granted I had Massachusetts plates on it but it did turn heads. I have family that live in St. Leonard which is about 15 minutes away from downtown Montreal. My cousin has a r32 skyline the car is pretty badass but I would still take my evo. He told me they just changed that 15 year law. Whatever cars are there already can stay but they cant import any more cars. So all of those cars pretty much doubled in value. Its still a pretty shady deal when buying one of those cars up there if you know what I mean. Even though its legal the cars still has to pass inspection etc. I was trying to trade my evo 9 to shop/dealer where my cousin got his car from. I told him bring over a r34 skyline make it pass the government inspection (I dont care how you do it) and plate it. He was thinking about it too lol.

All RHD cars are Banned in the province of Quebec only. There was a fatal collision involving a 3rd gen RX7 and a Transport truck, and since they have banned any NEW RHD cars in that province only. any other provinces are fine to use.

cars that are already registered in Quebec are ok to keep. and sell privatly. Theres just no more new registrations of them.

yeah, thats what started it, Quebec started with a 30 day band on them, then made it fulltime.

This being said alot of the Importers for eastern canada are based in Montreal. RHD cars have been going super cheap. Friend of mine bought S14 Silvia k's SR20, for 4200 bucks with 65xxx km on it.... I'd still rather have my Evo though

yes its a province, probably the easiest way to explain it is that its like a state in the country. Like california is its own thing but its still a part of the US.

I forgot how much my cousin picked up his skyline for. I wanna say 14 or 15 but when he bought it the car was just a mint shell. Then the guys put a R33 RB26 in it to make it complete. Apparently it was going to be the shop owners car because of the condition that it was in.

AFAIK it was a 180 day ban on registering RHD cars. Did that change to make it full-time?

the down side on having a rare car is you dont have the luxury of good quality shop to do your work or tuning. Luckily theres ppl like 4ws tuning who does e-mail tuning. Our EVO X & new RA community is growing quite well

regarding the JDM vehicles, ya 15 years or older period, end of story

btw, chaotichoax im very impressed on ur knowledge about the evos in canada
Yea ive seen 3 evos in 5 years,

1st one was nearby from NY, and looked like he was at a friends house because the car was there for a week.

2nd one was this guy that actually owned it, because later i saw that he was selling it because he was moving back to japan.

3rd evo was a silver (evo 8 i think) that just flew by the bus stop. It was LOUDDD. louder than the fart cans, and it had a nice BOV.

And about the shops, how's Magnus Motorsports for tuning etc? I know they specialize in the 4g63. I live in Toronto and its pretty close to me.

in the past 2 weeks i saw an evo XIII and an EVO IX...i was soo happy to see it. I caught a glimpse of the evo IX for probably 2 seconds and that made my whole day. I hope to import one soon so i can stare at my own everyday.

by the way anyone in Canada (particularly toronto) have problems with the police. Like getting pulled over for no reason what so ever just because it is a flashy car?
