Differences between authentic jdm bumper and replica

Hey everyone,

Ive found a local guy selling a jdm rear bumper, but this being the first one ive closely looked at, I dont know how to make sure its not a cheap replica.

Are there any cosmetic differences (other than fitment), vin tags, japanese writing, dragon pictures , etc that would make it pretty obvious??

I dont have a picture, but could I suppose. Any help would be appreciated.

It would be hard to tell you since I'm sure many different manufacturers make replicas. The best advise you will get from here is to look for fitment issues and cheap components. We can be more helpful if you get detailed pics...

From what ive heard the REAL JDM rear bumper has a imprint of an arrow right underneath were the license plate goes, but on the inside.

real ones are the factory urethane material, and the diffuser is a gunmetal-ish color.

There should be a sticker on the inside with a barcode on it and probably some japanese writing with a part number from mitsu with the mitsu logo on the sticker. The material will be poly whereas most knockoffs are a fiber/poly so you should see some fiber material showing through on the inside.
If it was fake and fit decent I would actually consider buying it if the price was decent. PM me if your not gonna buy it so I can look at it.

just knock on it! A fake will most likely ne fiberglass and will sound more like a wooden door. Whereas a real one will be a softer knocking sounds.(softer plastic)

If that makes any sense. lol I am a body man, so i can tell the difference. Its not hard though.

It's just a sticker. Some people might remove it. It's not the end all be all identifier.

Well I searched, and I hate this new search option so I didn't last long. Thank you everyone for your help, I'll be looking at it closely on Monday probably.

Thanks.

who the hell would remove the sticker that has no bearing on anything only to tell your product is REAL. Thats like cutting the tags off bride seats and saying trust me if its not there call it fake and move on no reason to pull that off hommie

I agree. If you are dumb enough to remove a sticker from a JDM piece then want to see it as a "real" JDM part then tough s*** for you. If the person selling doesnt have proof its real then I wouldnt pay JDM prices.
