Just bought an 03 need help please!

So i just purchased an 03 from Booth Motors in longmont Colorado. the car is an 03 with 80,00 miles, and it has a Hallman Boost controller, injen intake and ic pipes, injectors, AEM fuel rail, SSQV Hks blow off, and a tune by mac autosports It drove well on the test drive and the engine bay looked good, although i just looked at it well it was not running. So i drove it home and it seemed to run well. Well when i got there i found a boost leak in the very left rear corner of the motor, the line was t'd and no hose was connected it just sucked air. i also found some vaccum piping in the cabon, so i figure it was for a boost guage. so i capped it and then took it for a drive. well i got into boost and the car went completely nuts. it started jerking back and fourth, so i immediatey got out of it and paniced. so i turned the boost controller basically all the way down to make sure high boost would not damage the car. i have been messing with the car all night, and the only way it will run well at all is by leaving the cap off, and turning the boost up some. i dont want to leave this leak but i don't know what to do. it idles rough at times, and almost wants to die. I want to take it to Brian Tubz for a tune, but i cannot throw any more money at this thing just yet. Brian if your reading this please help, i hear your the best in the area. so what do i do now? i dont know where the mbc was set at and the leak i need to fix somehow, and keep the car drivable. also how can i tell if the 60k was done with these problems im a little worried that it might not have been. the dealer assured me it was but who knows. i need to order a boost guage tonight i know. i'm freaking out here please help. It also seems like the turbo is lagging more then it should.

the dealer sold it to u with no warranty at all? seems if u bought it just now and you are having issues I would take it back to them right away. I would get a mr bov instead of the hks, do a boost leak test to see if anything else is leaking. If clutch was just replaced you need to break it in propertly, and gl.

+1, HKS BOV = Fail and take it back to the dealer. Can I ask how much you paid?

You won't hear any knock on this car trust me, by that time your motor will or would be gone. The clutch being replaced will have nothing to do with it either.

It does appear that you have a hose from a boost gauge disconnected. I'm not sure as to why it runs worse when you cap it off though. It should improve if anything.

Sorry I can't be of anymore assistance but I'm sure someone will pop in soon with an answer.

Bring the car to a tuning shop so someone who knows what they are doing can fix the car. If this isn't option (i.e. you are broke) make sure you check for all vaccuum leaks and DEFINITELY switch the BOV to a stock or recirculating setup, then go get a tune. Sounds like that car had the ever loving doo doo rocked out of it before you got your hands on it. Make sure you check for frame damage.

Take pictures of the hose that the T is connected to and post them. Keep the boost dialed back for now and drive out of boost until you work this out. How reputable is the tuner who did the work? Are they local? I ask these things for a few reasons.

1) All reputable tuners now almost ALWAYS include some form of the TephraMOD patch on their tunes and this would almost always lead to a flashing Check Engine Light when the knock sum is in a range great enough to harm the motor. If you have a Tatrix cable and ECU flash, pull the tune and send it to someone on here (I could look for you if need be) and lets see what it looks like.
2) Another reason to ask if the tuner was reputable is that did they actually look how mechanically sound the car was before dropping the tune in. Could they have been ignorant enough to tune the car with that T uncapped and having a massive boost leak? If so, your capping it stopped the leak, raised the boost significantly and is causing a massive boost spike, throwing off the air to fuel settings like mad and overall making the tune obsolete.

If the tuner is local go to them and discuss what is going on. Also, I would go back to the dealer and complain and tell them of the troubles you have been having. That way if things go very wrong and the car dies (one way or another) you have alerted them of the problem and they know of an issue(for legal down the line, if they refuse any help).

Get rid of the HKS BOV. You will thank yourself later when the car runs well. There is no need for it and it shows no gains or any benefit over a recirculating BOV (actually makes it worse) at your power levels.

Best of luck

ok i will post pics right away in the morning i called the dealer about 8 times today to discuss issues i had with the car at at the end of it all they said was take it to tubz whom is a really great evo tuner frm what i hear he has a profile on here, but you would think they would have done that already seeing the problems its having. if i can't hear knock how can i tell. i will have time in two weeks to mess with it just not right now so whats a quick fix so i just don't really screw anything up and the price was 15999 you can look it up here also instead of a boost gauge should i just take it in for a tune no i really don't have money to throw around been waiting 5 years to get my hands on one of these and just threw 16 at it don't really think i should need to trow anymore right away http://boothmotorsllc.com/display.cf...hicleID=725510

LESSON LEARNED!! next time you buy a car, even from a dealership have a qualified mechanic inspect it. it will usually only run about 100-150 bucks but is well worth it.

good luck, hopefully it is something simple.

So you have to get it sorted out by a mech even after they sold it to you that way?? Sucks and not to rub salt in but you really should get any car properly checked before purchasing next time.
