04 Evo 8 with 2k miles, should i keep it under the cover or drive it ?
someone mentioned the tsukuba evo, now that one may be worth holding onto for a while because it has history and a title to it. Your cars title will be "this evo sit in joe blows garage for years" if they ever auction these cars at a high end auto auction. But maybe, just maybe in 30-40 years, if you keep it stock and then fly it to japan and auction it there....then maybe it will bring a lot of yen because it will be a classic car to them.....just an idea

Think about it. If you're in the market for a used Evo, would you prefer one which has been modified and beat to who-knows-what state, or a nice pristine completely unmodified one?
I know what I would prefer. That's why I paid a premium for a nice very low mileage completely unmodified adult-driven (read into that what you will) Evo IX MR SE a few weeks ago.
So go ahead everyone. Keep modding your Evos. You're just making our nice stock untouched ones worth more.

i can see this from both sides of the arguement. to mod, or not to mod. whether you mod or don't mod, you should definately DRIVE. these cars are all about the driving experience. it is completely pointless to own one of the worlds best driver's cars, and not learn to drive it to your full potential in this car.
to buy an EVO and baby it makes no sense. you bought it because it's fast, and because it handles. not because it's comfortable and gets good gas mileage. to buy an EVO and never let it see redline is a waste. you might as well have bought a prius.
it's uncomfortable, ugly, not very good on gas, not going to impress anyone, and girls don't like it (until they ride in it), so use the damn thing for what it was meant for. go race it. find an autocross, road course, a drag strip, or even some backroads with a lot of twisties and beat the **** out of it. the EVO's begging for it. My EVO feels like it's pissed and ready to slit it's own wrists when i force it to do the speed limit...i can just imagine how terrible it must be to have one of these just sitting completely still for no reason at all.

I would just drive it. You might regret not being able to drive it later. Because if you don't drive it now, somebody else will later. And who knows, they might even drive it like they stole it.
A lot of the people who mod their cars would ideally like more for their cars, but it just comes down to the fact that the real market is not like that. For one thing, as we can see, a modded car's worth is much higher for the seller, while it's much less for the buyer.
it all comes dow to money...who has the dough will mod their car to their likes and enjoy it, and someone who does not have the money will sit here and ***** how they like their evo to be stock and blah blah...be real thevalue of these cars will go down just the fact they are making sooo many of them and the 6th year of production 03-10.
And for you that compare supras to the evo its like comparing mustangs to ZO6 corvette. A brand new supra back in the day was in the high 45k, and made 325whp stock and only so many were made, where as a new evo was in the high 20k so big difference there. plus evo is not consider an exotic car but a rally car. Look at the market for RX-7 its completly downhill, they are selling for as low as 9k on their forums, AND those where also in the low 40k back in the days and they made a lot less rx7 than anything else.

hey man if you wanna keep it thats cool. ur definitely right. keepin it indoors and well kept will make it more valuable in the long run. on the other hand ur missin out on the fun of driving it. to meet both sides of the argument in the middle, ATLEAST ur a good owner who cares and ur not some unexperienced kid who doesn't kno how to drive and who's mommy and daddy bought them an evo (or any nice car for that matter) that they end up wrecking. So no matter what side ur on, atleast ur a good owner.

IIRC, the only folks who discussed having stock or stock-ish Evos were the gentleman who recently purchased a IX in lieu of a 911 to go with his X MR, and yours truly. We're both in our 40s, pointing to at least 20 more years of earned income than some kid who buys a used 6 year old Evo, lives with his mommy, works for just a hair above minimum wage and spends every cent on insurance and decorations for his car.
