Well i have a weird thing in my head that i cant get out after my tranfer case went out 2 days ago.. so i thought i would share with u guys and see what you think.. so here is my story...

Well i went to get an oil change, "Normally do it myself but it was sooo cold out and really just didnt fell like doing it." So i took my car down to road to Pep Boys, "I no they are retard of the start." but i was thinking anyone can do an Oil my 14 yr old sister can..

So they took my car.. they shut the door bay so i couldnt see what they were doing.. i went inside and looked threw the window.. I was like 4-5 guys just staring at my Engine bay .. It took them about 20-25mins to change the oil in my car ...

So after i left i drove the car for about 50-60 miles and my Tranfer case went .. So at the time i was so pissed thought nothing of it about pepboys...

But now that i think about it.. maybe the retarded that filled my oil up undid the TC bolt and filled it up with normal gear oil or something realizing he undid the wrong bolt...

There was no wineing or anything before i gave it to them. I did a 3rd gear pull on the highway after my pull it started to wine and has been getting worse ever since...

I plan on getting it fixed this week or so i cant wait to see what the oil looks like in my TC to see if they f*cked with it

UPDATE: Shep got back to me about what might of made the Transfer case break. They said that the fluid did looked changed lately, "When the last time i changed it was 25k ago." They said my bearings were really black and having the right or wrong fluid wouldn't do that. SO they think the fluid has nothing to do with it going. Just wear n tear.

 

It is a matter I would definetly look into. I would also go in and talk to someone at pep boys about it,

exactly, so why not just do the oil change yourself? also, if you insist on letting a retard work on your car, at least make sure to supervise said retard.

 

Next time you want an oil change drive about 30 mins and I will do it for you. Or teach you how. Pep Boys is AWFUL..

haha good analogy. back when i owned an MR2 I stopped into a pepboys to get a tire replaced in an emergency. the guy helping me mount the tire asked "so whats under the hood of this thing?" trying to open the "frunk" i proceeded to pop the engine lid and he was baffled...


i would def look into it, they could have messed with the TC, good luck trying to prove it though

His fail kicked in 100% when he let them shut the door. Maybe it's just a coincidence that your TC went out after the oil change

 

pep boys is for pickup trucks, i would definetly check trans oil and tcase... also if you check your engine oil, dip stick you can tell if oil has been changed or not.

 

why dont you simply check your dipstick if you have fresh oil? then open the fill plug on the TC and dip your finger in and see what you got in there?

 

I am thinking about this.. LOL. IDK bored at work. If they were to drain the TCASE they would have to fill the tcase back up right? Now that is alot more work. so I am going to assume if this is the case they drained the tcase then pulled the oil filter and drained it and refilled with oil. and left the tcase dry. Seems like alot of red flag moments. Like Holy Eff why is there so much oil coming out when I remove the filter. IDK.. with pep boys would not surprise me..
