Learn your lesson now and next time research your shops a little better. Did you get some sort of promised date for your car? I know what your going through though. back in the days when I didnt know better I got screwed over by a shop that would take months to install an ems, then wait months when it didnt run right to get it diagnosed. Go in person, find out the details as to whats going on to get more info. Get a date set to have your car back and if they cant meet the deadline just pay for what they have done at that time and get your car out of there. I was naiive back in the day and found out, when it was too late, the shop that worked on my car was notorious for projects sitting there for years!!!

Wow, 4 months is quite some time. I would get on their case and give them deadlines.

Have you seen your parts? Maybe they took your part money and used it to pay bills, now they are waiting to get paid on other jobs so they can get the parts for yours.... Just a stab in the dark...

Any good shop should have build engines available to swap in place of your core engine and be done with it in 72hrs to a week.

I'm calling bull**** on their side....no way they should take that long and if you look at it, ok one machine shop was busy, for a month? Why hadn't they taken it to another one and got it finished in the other month then? It is all lies. Not to be negative, but from personal experience their lying. I had something similar to this happen to me. Drop by and take a look at the progress.
