I got rear ended by a sixteen year old guy who has progressive and is seeing if anyone has been hit by somebody with their insurance. I also want to know if they made you get it fixed at their desired shop or wrote you a check.

I have progressive, they are easy to deal with. No insurance company can make you get your car fixed anywhere. Its your right to have it fixed where you want to. They will direct you to a prefered place because that place will cut them a deal on fixing it or not replace certain damaged parts to cut the cost. Just remember you can have it fixed any place you want.

On the other side of things progressive is horrible when it comes to claims... They are always wanting to cut corners (on body parts especially) and are a nightmare to deal with for the body shops. If you want the truth, call around to some body shops and ask them which ones are good to deal with and which ones aren't....

I've had pretty good luck with Progressive; better luck than USAA. I switched to Progressive on a Friday and two days later, my S2k was involved in a hit and run while hiking. I was really worried that they would cancel my policy since it was only 2 days old but they were more then happy to help me and I took the car to the body shop of my choice.

Would I recommend them? Yes.

Really? I've heard nothing but good things about them. Had two friends that got into accidents that had progressive: one with a 1g talon and another with a MR2. Progressive didn't give them any problems even when it came to replacing a some aftermarket stuff.

no problems with claims through progressive in 10+ years, but I am sure it depends on the claim rep. Might see some trouble if both sides are covered by progressive and it a tough call on whos fault it is. To save there own asses there likely to say each party was at 51% fault, thus spiking both partys rates.

unrelated mostly but from experience they won't let you keep slightly damged parts if they replace them, for example a headlight that had the clearcoat scratched but very usable, if replaced, they will want the old one so you can't sell it. Even though they are just going to throw it in the dumpster out back. Kind of stupid but makes sense.

yes that was my own personal experience back then, i wasnt at fault at the time and it wasnt affect my rate at all, i was prolly just expecting too much out of that company i guess. its just they werent helpful at all in assisting me dealing with the other party's insurance

If you don't want to deal with the kid with Progressive, then you can have your insurance deal with it. Just tell your insurance you want them to take care of it and they will take your deductible but you'll get reimburse when everything is done. I personally done this before with State Farm Insurance.

To the person who said stay away from Liberty Mutual I think you should have stated the office you talked with. Not all of them are idiots as my wife works there. I get a great rate and we have never had any problems.

gieco are jerks about aftermarket stuff. progressive is ok . i had a young girl clip my front end of my evo... and as we all know our headlights are about $1300. well the claim agent told me he knows of a place where its only $1000 so thats all he was giving me for it. so i went along with it.... now i have a headlight that gets that cloudy everyother week and i have to keep cleaing it with paint polish....

just make sure you are aware of all the parts you are getting
