Question Clutch issues...shaking in first

i went to pick my car yesterday after having the ACT HDSS clutch installed and was driving home. my car seemed to shake while taking off from first. it didnt shake in any other gear. also when i downshifted i noticed it. only when i let out of the clutch. if you have any ideas let me know. im not sure if it is because its more of a high performance clutch or it needs breaking in or what. thanks for the help guys

Its probably gonna have a rougher engagement then your normally use to so it will chatter a little just try to drive it easy and break it in for a few hundred miles

My car does this as well. I don't know if this is a problem but it only does it when i don't gas it enough.

just got recently got an exedy sports ceramic into mine, had a lot of clutch rumble but after about 600km it settled down now it only does it when i dont gas it enough. i was told that this is normal for most clutch upgrades.

Bro, you need to break in the clutch before any launching or down shifting.

so when breaking i should just brake w/ no clutch, like just throw it in neutral?

Dont think the op ever said he launched the car. Downshifting the thing is completely fine for break-in. Just drive it normally for 500 miles and youre good. It'll shudder first/reverse and possibly second. Notice how it shudders on gears that require slipping? Exedy rep said its due to the increased clamping pressure of the pressure plate. Mine went away eventually so I wouldnt worry too much

have the same issue with mine, same clutch. It chatters when getting going resulting in me needing to give it more gas. I think the flywheel needs resurfacing as i have had the clutch now for 7000 miles or so. As long as you can deal with the chatter, it isn't really a problem.

chatter is just noise. shudder is physically felt. shudder on first/reverse is ok and should subside after some break in miles.

okay good, i have one more question about the break in. will downshifting help/hurt or not really play a factor when breaking in a clutch?
