Angry Dealer Installed Options- WTF

The good news is that I received the petal/shift knob kit as free accessories due to my extended wait for the EVO I wanted back in May. However after less than 7,000 miles the petals are wearing down and the shift knob/parking brake have significant chips. Trust me this car may not always be driven like a granny, but I treat the interior with utmost respect. I even wipe my feet until dry on rainy days or to the leaves off. Hardly anyone else rides in my car (I can count on one hand those occurences) so what should I do? Do I demand a reinstall of those worn parts (not to mention I HATE the dealership I bought the car from, I go to another for service) or just live with it? Any others with similar experiences?

Well if they were "free" I dont think they will replace them. Especially due to wear and tear. Sucks there already chipin' but at least you didnt spend the money on them anyway.

Odd. How is the knob chipping? The anodizing is coming off? Do you wear lots of rings? If yes, are you in the mafia? :P

The door panel on my car is wearing quickly. But I'm pretty sure it's due to the clasp on my watch.

I've had no problems with the pedals or e-brake handle. The shift knob on the other hand....I wear a couple rings on my shifting hand and as would be expected the knob is scratched up a bit from it.

As far as your dilemna? I think ChrisS. answered your question adequately.

FYI, thanks for moving this over to EVO general where it belongs. Well for one I don't wear rings and the brake petal is basically down to a plain aluminum color (more than half the blue is completely gone). It's strange because I might not always drive like it, but interior wise I treat my car like an absolute shrine. I even keep old towels next to my garaged car to clean my shoes before I jump in.

I did find out today that dealer installed accessories are warrantied for 3 years/36,000 miles. I am getting mine replaced on Saturday. I am also going to post wear pictures on Wednesday when I actually get home from work when it is light out.

However another matter all together is that my car was actually in the Mitsubishi registry (which has my service history, purchase history and dealer registered accessories) showing I should also have a guage pod. The dealer is currently looking into that.

I didn't even think about the possible durability differences that might exist between the blue and silver. I have silver everything so there is no color to wear off. It looks as though I have no more useful input on this thread.

hey man! not to be an ***...but the factory option pieces are crap. They really aren't anything special, just a ploy for mitsu to make some more $$. Id suggest the ralliart pedals and the kartboy shift knob

No doubt. It's a quick fix to a normal looking interior right out the door though. The good stuff comes when I (or the rest of you guys) figure out exactly what I do/don't want to do with my car.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the leather "Tanning" is peeling off my steering wheel.. Its the area that I hold on to all the time, but its wearing pretty damn quickly.. Otherwise the rest of my interior looks brand spankin new..

I got every dealer option that came with the EVO. No complaints. I would go back and complain though.

Wear

My driver's door arm rest is wearing behind the door pull cause that's where I put my left elbow. I'm going to have to McGuyver a solution before I rub a hole in it...

My driver side door up near the window controls is getting worn because of the way my left knee rubs/rests against it. I've got no McGuyver solutions other than being more conscious of where my knee rests.
