This is a little off-topic as it may not relate to the Evo in particular but a car in the same range(pricewise) as an evo. My boy wanted to trade his RSX in and give 2,000(so 12,000, 10,000 for the trade in + 2,000 cash), for an STI. The lease for 36 months with 15k miles a year would of been 155 a month. I think he's going there today to take the car too . I am thinking about leasing now too.

Would it matter, 3 years turn the car in and lease/finance a new one.. if you finance you are stuck for 5 years with the car pretty much, leasing, 3 years, you had your fun with it, and now on to bigger and better things. Especially keeping in mind of new cars coming out in like 2006/2007.

If you really like and love the car, and want to make it yours(customizing, whatever), then finance. If you just want to enjoy it and whatnot or not sure if you want to keep it, lease it, but remember, when leases are up, you can always buy out the car, or finance the rest off, which is what many people do, to get the car cheaper in the long run, is start with a lease, and when it ends, you buy it out, which is usually not a high price at all after 3 years because of price deterioration.

The Evo is woth 40% of it's price after 3 years (per the lease calculations).

Hypothetically if the purchase of an Evo for 3 years shows only a 50% depreciation that that's the way to go...

Zapco:

not exactly. It depends on the interest rate/money factor and residual value/depreciation. YOu can alsosell a purschased car (same as turning it in with the lease). And this option may allow for a lower monthly payment...

This is a terriable residual. VW offers 51% after a 4 yr lease. The resale value of mitsubishi is horriable.

You are correct..

That residual is horrible but..

As of RIGHT THIS MINUTE, used wholesale on our precious EVO is like 23-24 Grand..

That means that in it's first 6-9 months of EXISTENCE it's lost 25% already...

Whoa..

No worries though because we didn't buy them to RESELL them, we bought them to DRIVE!!!

yo guys...the whole idea of leasing is you can beat the car to death, always be under warranty, and not worry about how it's gonna run in 5 or 6 years when you finally own it.
