noisy fuel pump

i have an 05 evo 8 and when it is hot the car doesnt start the first time due to the fuel pump relays overheating but once it does start the fuel pump is whining. is that because of the overheated relays or what?

any ideas? kinda new to evos

thanksss

First you need to figure out why the fuel pump relays are overheating or replace the relay. If you have an aftermarket fuel pump, majority of them all have a high pitch whine. If this recently started whining, you need to replace the fuel pump before you breakdown.

common with the 255lph walbros. Mine does it on hot humid days or after an hour drive or so which I rarely execute.

Nothing with the drop in capability that can support that type of flow is readily available. You can get different weld in units or other in line options, but the 255lph they make is the most sensible option that is a direct stock replacement.

Sounds like the normal whine to me. I had one that was pretty loud at one point. Never went out on me though, I switched it before its death I suppose.

As all of the other guys stated. It is just the walbro whine. IF you want, pull the fuel pump out. It is stamped if it is the walbro. I have installed atleast 15 fuel pumps. Mine of course being the loudest. Mine sounds like it isnt even in my tank...
