What are the average stock EVO 5-60mph times?
how does it compare to the sti's. 5-60. doesn't the sti have more of a drivetrain loss. and if the sti is in all aspects faster than an evo why does the evo cost the same...f&f2? anyway why would u get a evo over sti, just want to hear some of your opinions?

I want to time mine with a stopwatch, not the most accurate but cheap nonetheless
I posted this in Drag Racing...but I don't think it belongs there so I posted it here. I can't delete the post or else I would have.

Btw, mine has the same mods as yours except I'm running a K&N panel filter and 21lbs boost with a mbc. It's quick but I don't think it runs like yours.

I know starting from 5 mph the rpms are below the sweet spot. But when you start from a standing start the rpms are much lower. When I start from 5 mph I am probably at about 2000-2500. When I start from zero, I am about 1000 rpm or idle. I am talking from a normal stand start, not a beat your car to death start. I don't launch at 5-6 grand at every light.

Those times from Sport Compact Car are questionable. In fact, they admitted it in their article. Firstly the car had already been used in two previous tests (including the one where it beat the STi) and it's clutch wasn't up to task. Secondly it was hot during the testing - between 89 and 93 degrees and it's not as quick as the normally aspirated cars.
The 0-60 time from the first test was 5.3 seconds and 5.9 seconds from the third test. The 1/4 mile was 13.4@103mph in the first test versus 14.0@97.7 in the third test!

Every test will show variances. Road conditions, Weather, WIND, and other things contribute to these variances. Each car will react differently to these conditions.
Fastest Stock Evo tested was by Motor Trend, 0-60 in 4.69 and 1/4 mile in 13.08. That would be faster than a stock STI but since they didn't have a STI at the time of the test, we will never know what they would have got with the STI at the same condition.

You guys do realize that a true 5-60 MPH test would have you starting with your foot off the clutch in 1st gear at about 900 RPM, right?

Hmmm...You are saying that you can go 5mph when your car is basically idling? I tried mine at 1500RPMs from a crawl and the speedo barely nudged past 0

In 1st gear with the stock tires, each 1000 RPM is equal to 5.68 MPH.
In particular, 5 MPH in 1st gear occurs at 881 RPM.
So do your 5-60 MPH test by starting from a roll in 1st gear at 881 RPM -- and no clutch pedal allowed until you shift into 2nd. See what time you come up with then.
