i'd definately go witht he Black, even on a stock motor. very strong turbo which requires minor upgrades if you want modest power.

motors out.....

dont really have money to spend on another clutch....but not sure if i should reuse the one in there, nor do i know the signs of when its on its way out..

have act hdss...has about 40k miles on it and was still strong when i pulled it out....but my luck would be putting it all together than having the clutch go.

40k on a light duty performance clutch that has been raced and now will be put through the stress of making nearly double the power. You might want to look into that.

I would say have a trans shop take a peek at it. At least with the HDSS kit you can buy Pressure plate and clutch separate.

well..all parts are ordered..just have to find some bearings.....

hopeing over this coming week the block will be together and i'll be putting the motor together in my garage..

its my first time.. big thanks to 4retech..aka..48 valves aka quacker state aka got 0wned by a supra in fnf.....lol..idk if that makes sense to anyone but it does to me..

but big thanks to him for hooking me up with the manual and much needed parts.

i'm not much of a picture taker but probablly will take some during the build...any advice is welcome ofcoarse.

i did purchase a hoist..i plan to attach longblock to tranny and try and come from top trying to angle?...for those of you done this in a garage was this doable?

or trying from bottom.?

thanks

I installed a longblock with a transmission attached from the top. I needed my friend to put a lot of his weight on the transmission side to get it in at a major angle. In hindsight, it probably would have been easier from the bottom if you can get the car high enough off the ground (no lift, just jack and stands).

the easy way is you put the motor inside the engine bay, then attache the tranny after that install all the mounts.

After installing mine from underneath with a lift. Yes, without a lift, I would recommend this route.

ok so a quick update...i did the way over top...it actually is very easy as long as the motor is leveled front to back and using the angler to rotate it...

i did run into issue...i had the left motor mount in only and was dumb and had right side on jack and took away hoist..i thought it would be easier to manuever into the other motor mounts and the motor fell backwards even though it was still on front mount....also when i initially dropped in motor i forgot to totally move TC out of the way..so it got wedged as well i had to remove the mount lift motor up..get the TC up and out the way and drop back down motor..

than on TC in front of the larger o ring i notice it did get chipped..but oring still fine so i'm praying it dosen't leak and my TC is good ...sigh

than i had the hardest time getting TC to line up..

let me tell u after 3 days of working on this ....body gets drained for sure..we had 100 degree weather i was just sweating like crazy..

after takin a nice break and drinking water ...went back out there and TC went in in less than 10 sec...i was shocked.

also..when connecting tranny to pressure plate the wedge collar got knocked out..and ihad no idea how to put together....long story short..the clutch wasn't connecting...so i had to remove tranny..found that a ring fell inside PP...so i had to remove PP, i than saw how to connect back the wedge collar and put it all back together.

this is all a great learning experience..very costly as well but fun too..

so for now. motor and all mounts are in..suspenion is back in with axels and wheels on...

all thats left is exhaust and all bars underneeth than just connecting up cables!!..should be another full day of work to complete that.

sorry for the long post..
