Charging a brand new battery?

I'm going to be buying a brand new Odyssey mini-battery and I wasn't sure how long it's been sitting in the box. Should I charge it before I install it in my Evo?

Also if I were to need a jumpstart is there anything different I'd do with the mini-battery as opposed to the regular sized battery?

If the battery is brand new, you shouldn't have to charge it unless they clearly state that you must charge before 1st use. Most batteries come pre-charged new. If it will start your car, don't worry about it because the alternator will restore any charge that it lost by sitting on the shelf.

For a jumpstart, there would be nothing different from any normal battery, just as with all others, do not connect the ground directly to the dead battery, but connect it to an unpainted surface on the car to ground.

Yeah, when i bought my odyssey mini battery, i just straight dropped it in with the mini tray and it worked perfect. In fact it worked better than my old big o battery, haha.

Car batteries are typically the same. The mini battery has the obvious size advantage but will not last nearly as long (obviously). You probably won't need to charge the battery.

Assuming the battery isn't dead, as long as you get the car started, the car will charge the battery.

However if you do need to charge it, I would trickle charge it at 2A.
