Thinking of trading my GSR for MR
Thinking of trading my GSR for MR
I have a mint WW IX gsr with 10k miles and I'm thinking of trading it in for what looks like a mint WW IX mr with 24k miles. The reason I want to "upgrade" to the MR is for the aluminum roof, the hids, and the badge... Ever since I bought the car almost 2 years ago I've had buyer's remorse thinking I should have went with the MR because it's the "top of the line evo"...
Keep in mind, I will eventually be running an fp red hoping to produce 450-550 hp.
Am I retarded thinking about trading for the MR?
Also if I was to trade it in and buy the MR, what price on top of the trade in would you guys think would be fair?

if your shooting for them power levels, keep the car you have now. the MR trans is good for around 450 wtq....
mines starting to grind a lot now, i wish i wouldve gotten the 5 speed

you are def making a mistake, first you are getting a car with higher, milage than yours, second the aluminum roof does not make that much of the difference if you want to go lighter just remoce spare tire and get a smaller battery. Plus for the power level you shooting the 6 spd might not be too friendly...i would def keep the gsr if i was you

That's true to an extent. I'm going to get jdm heads anyway, but it will require two hids kids (lows and fogs) and will not have the electric leveling function of the MR. The roof is not as easy though...
According to KBB the trade-in value of my car is around 22k, while the car is listed for around 28k so I don't know if this is even plausible. There is no way i'm paying 6k on top of my trade-in..

according to the NADA values, which is what you SHOULD be looking at, there's only a $1k difference in the value of the two cars. trade plus $1-2k is all you should be looking to pay. personally, I don't think it's a bad idea. I love my MR, and I knew if i had bought the standard IX, I wouldn't have been happy. I wanted the 6 speed, and it's never given me any issues. In other countries, the 6 speed is the standard transmission, and in some places, the only available option. The 6 speed, like the car's stock clutch, is not as big of a liability as people on this board try to make it seem.

Unless your IX were broken or the other party was giving you a smoking deal, then yes.
I agree with what you said about how it's unfortunate that they didn't make the IX SE in white. I may have swooped on one of those if they had been made.
