Guys....for everyone saying they are going to to run out and get Lojack or the superduper Viper alarm. Understand thats good to get but there is a reason why these companies don't gurantee that their alarms are thief proof.........its because they aren't. No matter how thief proof it is some scumbag will figure out how to take it. Worse now since the economy is bad.

I have no clue how small the import community is in Chicago but I gotta figure this many Evo's going in a 2 week span.........someone has to know something. What the classified ad's and for sales in your local craigslist/forums.

GL everyone. Try to hang on to your hard earned toys. Lord knows there are a crap ton scumbags ready to relieve you of your hard earned possession.

Are they thief proof, no, but things like lojack and Escort CIS if hidden properly will atleast give them something to track. I know the CIS also tracks for up to two days even with the battery disconnected, and will allow you to watch it online. That should atleast give the police a place to start....

"Gee, the car was stolen and then the signal stopped in your garage, etc...."

I agree with everyone though that if they want it bad enough theyre going to get it anyway. I dont care what kind of alarm you have, there's some way around it. Ask the people who install them, I'm sure they know a few tricks.

Heartbreaking to read.

About 18 months ago, some a$$hole(s) tried to steal my Evo out of the train station parking lot, but came up short... I ended up with a broken window and some other damage, so I can only imagine how you feel.

Best of luck - and to ground you out a little, don't forget it's just a car, no matter how much you loved it and want it back. At least you're alright, and the people you care about are alright. You'll find another car to fall in love with soon enough.

Has the insurance paid you yet for this? I thought they gave it 2 weeks or so, then they pay up.

It goes without saying, park in well lit areas and if you dont have a garage, park as close as possible to your window/house. I feel insecure when my cars in any vacant area

True, but every little bit helps. Well lit areas may deter some of the more novice thieves. And almost as important, it might give you some peace of mind.
