turo is shot ;[

evo 8 2003 2.3 stroker motor, had a stock turbo on it and it crapped out finally so now I guess I need a new turbo , was going to ask if it is a good idea to look for a used turbo or save the money and buy new, I want to put a bigger turbo on , the stock turbo was too small for the engine hard to drive with out getting on the boost wich i think helped wear the turbo out, can I bolt a fp red or a fp black onto it with out changing the manifold ? i'm thinking fp red or black if i can swing the dough or if anyone has a good used one let me know any advice is appreciated thanks

if you were running a stock turbo then a fp black or red will bolt right up. fyi the red and the black have the same flanges as your stock turbo, so any stock flanged manifold will work. if you have any more questions give fp a call or check out their website they are pretty helpful.

question,

did you dyno your car on the stock turbo with the stroker.. If so, what #'s

Anyways,

you have some choices man.....

CBRD has some turbo options for stock frame
FP has the Red / Black
and a few others but right now, those are the main options people are opting for

just in time for the BBK-B from CBRD!!

this is also a stock frame turbo and will bolt up to any manifold with the stock flange

it made 313 wheel hp and 331 torque at 21 psi here is the dyno chart
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...t/BrianEVO.jpg

its 2.3 stroker , intercooler, intercooler piping, exaust and intake, has after market fuel pump but stock injectors

so i'm curious what a black could do with stock injectors really would be nice not just for more power but i would like a little lag because i like to be able to drive around with out being in the boost all the time its almost impossible lol i'm thinking black but i might have to wait a bit I trade in the stock market for income and its been hard lately so I dont have as much money as usual so i might have to wait

how much hp could i pump out with stock injectors with a black considering my mods ?

here some more pics http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...t/DSCN0461.jpg

the previous owner didnt do the best job of taking care of the car so its a project for me I have a deep love for the car its like a family member I wanna keep it forver and take good care of it

If your going with a red or black you also need the install kit since you have a evo 8.

You will need more injector for the black and red if you want to see power.

The duty cycle on the injector will be maxed out on the stockers.

i can't swing the dough for a fp black right now just too much going on in other parts of life , so i am thinking I might try to find a used evo 9 turbo for now, i was curious i'v heard the evo 9 turbo can actually be upgraded does anyone know if it can be upgraded to a black ? or red that would be really cool so i could eventually upgrade down the road , also curious if i will get anymore power with the 9 turbo since i have stock injectors thanks appreciate all the help

yes, you can upgrade a evo IX turbo to a red or a black, just have to make sure your hotside divider wall isn't cracked ( typical in IX turbos) and you should make more power with a evo IX turbo but not much more I think but not totally sure.

You also may want to look into a bbk full o bbk-b from cbrd. There stock framed turbos and are very nicely built.

Even a HTA Green would be a blast on a 2.3.

Stock Evo 9 turbo from fp is $1075 when a bbk full is only $1640 for a brand new bbk full from cbrd.
