Evo black box - Anyone ever find it?
So the cops are claiming they can pull my "black box" to determine if i was speeding.. I looked in to it and a lot of GM's have them.. and there are a few threads on here about a proposed black box, but do we have one or no?
05 evo?
Air bags never went off or anything.. so I donno why it would record anything?

The is and isn't a black box in every car! It's not like the black box on a plane its just your regular OBD2 that records and stores paramaters and keeps rerecording. When I was a tech at a dealership we used to be able to access alot of info to determine when the DTC was set and under what conditions etc.
As far as this cop it's bull cause as far as I know you cant just plug and start reading info for a speeding ticket. However if someone was involved in a crash and such after warrants and special manufacture access you can acquire info as to blinkers being on or off, seatbelt being worn, brake being applied or not, full throttle or not etc.

the only thing is that if you do call their bluff . they'll tow your car impound it, wait for a search warrant , and in the mean time you have to pay an impound fee. just so they can prove a point
probable cause or some BS like that
