Schroth Harness Questions

Already searched the Schroth harness threads...seen alot on installs.. no reviews.

Im looking at getting a pair of Schroth Rallye 4 harnesses. I could use some feedback from so owners. Any issues or concerns?

Also, If I'm only going to use the harness at the track, what do you do with it while on the street? Latch it and pull it tight to the seat behind you?

Thanks in advance.

I'm running these harness in my car now. The brackets bolts to the original location of the stock belts. However, the is one modification. The two bracket that are bolts to the rear seats must be bent to a 45 degree angle. It very easy to do. Other than that, its straight forward. I use the stock belts for dd, and the harness for autox. I fold them back when I'm not using them.

Not worried about the install seems very simple.

chu, when you "fold them back", does that mean they are up against your back during street driving? Is it comfortable?

I throw the shoulder straps around the sides to the back side of the seat, as if they're not there at all!

You need a rollbar or cage to run a harness. Anything less and you are playing with your life.

I had one in my Subie that I used just for autocrossing. It got a lot of use and held up well, but I did eventually break the 'knob' off one of the sticks that goes in the end of each belt. (The stick gives you something to pull on when tensioning the belt. I was co-driving my car with someone else, so we were adjusting the lap belt very often.

The harness really holds you tight in the seat and you'll be surprised how much more control of the car you can get, when you don't have to use your arms to help hold you in place.

I have also been using the Schroth Rallye 4 A.S.M. Harness for several years. The install is very simple and uses the stock belts mounting locations. I also just fold the belts around the sides of the stock seat when I am not using it..and if you have people in the back seat the harness just unclips and the rear passengers have access to all the stock belt(s). Chuck P. would you explain your comment...? about this harness ! Pete

Maybe you should do some research before posting this. The Schroth Harness with ASM technology is specifically engineered to be run without a rollcage and to be safe in the event of a rollover.

I did use my harness on the street sometimes, but it did make me a little nervous. I was using the mouting bolts for the rear seatbelts as my anchor point for the shoulder straps. In a collision, it would have to be REALLY bad for those to be pushed forward significantly, but in my bad dreams, that's what I imagined

Yes, Schroth does have an ASM feature so you don't need a submarine strap.

Thanks for all the feedback; definately buying a pair. I want to get more control and have grown tired of "flopping around" in the seat during autocross and such.

It makes a tremendous difference - your arms are just working to turn the wheel, your feet are just working the pedals. Without the harness, they're partly keeping you in the seat too. All your control inputs are a bit easier and more precise.

If you drive on the street, you have to re-adjust a bit. Your turn-in will probably be more abrupt. You'll know, when your passengers complain about smacking their heads on the side windows
