car cranks, it stops, then it dies... Any ideas

Today i get into my car to leave i try to turn it on but it doesn't. It cranks then stops and the car dies. I try it again but this time the car doesn't even crank and the lights on the gauge cluster does not even light up. I pop the hood to find out whats wrong get out and then close the door to hear my alarm go off. I turn it off to find that now all gauges have power now. So now here I am trying to figure out hat the problem is this time. Any ideas?
Thanks

I would start by checking for loose or corroded battery terminals/wires. If you see corrosion take them off and clean them up really good.

First I would check the terminal as stated before and after I would check the battery under load. If you dont have the machine than take the battery out and take it to auto-zone, they can usually check it free of charge. If the battery is good and has a full charge and your lights on the cluster still dont light up than I would check the fuses and ignition switch. If the lights on the cluster light up and the car dont crank at all I would check the starter(if it gets power, jump it and see if it spins). If that checks out good than I would check if it is related to alarm or factory anti-theft system. These are just some basics. Good luck and let us know whats going on.

Sounds a lot like a fuel pump that has bit it.
