Evo 7 & 8

Everything you say seems to be on the money. The evo 7 ceased production 6-8 weeks ago. The are gearing up for the evo 8, which will be what comes to the USA.

Your sumation on the rumour that it could be 2 door might be close also, as the new 4 door Lancer evo is too tall and too heavy to be a rally car now, so they are looking at running a 2 door like Peugeot, and Citroen, and the tie-in will be a 2 door sold for marketing.

If its two door I wont buy. I think alot of the appeal of the evo is that it is a sedan. I doubt they would completely cut out the 4 door.

sucks... fascist bastards. heh
yea, i feel bad for 2 reasons : (most) dealers aren't fascists or bastards. i've had some bad experiences with my current dealer (not a mitsu dealer mind you)
: it's a nationwide increase. just so you all know. prices will be raised nationally by mitsubishi about 6 months after initial release (which is still an unknown time.)
sorry to dealers, specifically renner in milwaukee

First wave

Any serious buyers reading this forum should be in our forum's buyers' group. See the thread "Buyers' Group" if you are serious about getting a "first wave" Evo at MSRP (or below?...not likely but possible) and absolutely having a written contract to have your car delivered at that price when they come out. Not a problem if you already have a deposit in with a dealer...you can keep that arrangement when we make an agreement with a dealer, or you can "sign on" to our agreement if it's better. That decision only has to be made when we need to make deposits...this will be a fact-finding and deal-finding mission group.

SEE BUYERS' GROUP THREAD!! We wll put the gorup entry on hold when we have 15 people (already halfway there) so that we can negotiate as a reasonable sized group. If we get a group of dealers willing to provide more cars, guaranteed, as ordered, at MSRP...and they can provide more than 15, we will allow others from the forum to join.

Question So is Anyone else loosing INTEREST too?

seems like the more people gaze at its beauty ; the more people start to rethink about it. But hey thats the way things work out when money is involved. Which basically would be our whole american system. lol. I just know that I am going to get my hands on the EVO no matter what. even if it hurts my pockets.

The money wasnt my issue, its the feeling that we are getting a watered down version, if the real version is later released then good I may buy one still.

Geez Gosh

31k? Wow that is a lot I don't think I'll be able to purchase it then. My Integra's insurance is already squeezing me very bad. I can't imagine what EvoVIII is going to do I totally love the car, but I guess I'm just going to always looking at other people driving their Lancer Cedia/EvoVIIIs on the road.

What do you guys think i should do?

1) Buy a Lancer now, and modd it to looks of Evo VII. I wanted to do this.

2) Hold out and get a Evo VIII later? Gotta worry about pocketbook....this is a steeper option.

If money's tight...either get a lancer and put some aftermarket $ into it....or wait a year or so for a used Evo (when someone defaults on it).

Also,
For those of us in the Buyer's Group who are really looking to get a full-blown Evo:
If we have to import, we will. We will do the work with Mitsubishi Sweden or JDM as a group, and import in a bulk load. Then we can use our group deals to upgrade with aftermarket tuners like Prospeed, CA.

Let's hope that's not all necessary and that the true Evo (sure, detuned, who cares...anyone planning on leaving it as is...no aftermarket ECU?...forget it) hits our shores SOON.

It will save us a lot of $ if Mitsu sends it to us (importation costs, etc, etc!!) but if we need to import it to get it, we can open up the buyers' group to the first 100 people and likely work a deal for right around 30-35K anyway.

What about getting them street legal in the USA? How are you going to register a car from Japan or Sweden
