does my evo need new clutch or synchro or both??
I have the ACT and it is going to drain your pockets. I was on a budget when I bought it but it has now caused the following due to lockout:
Replaced 2nd,3rd, and now need a 4th gear synchro....Replaced transmission bearings, replaced shift fork. So far Ive spent $500x3=$1500 just for pulling and replacing tranny plus parts which were easily $500....All in all saving 1k on the clutch versus a twin disk Ive spent double that in repairs. If I dont shift at 6500rpms or earlier I get locked out. I would never reccommend an act product to anyone for the evo specific. Im not sure about other cars.
For your situation Id say the lockout is from the clutch and the grind is a bad synchro. Get a new clutch as Im going to and have the synchro changed and all others checked when your shop pulls the tranny. Good luck I feel your irritation.
