I thought you guys would like to know that we are getting an Evo VIII. Just talked to our regions rep and he told me that we will see the Evo VIII at the July meetings.

 

When you say "see the Evo VIII" do you mean a car, full specs, ad packages or some or all of the above? Just curious. Or did they not really tell much about that either?

 

Freak....YOUR reps? Do you work at Mitsu? Does that mean July is the month specs will be released? When can I expect to test drive an Evo at my local Mitsu?

At these events usually everything about the car is discussed except the options and different packages. So they will probably tell us some specs like 10,000 hp @ the wheel and such and such, the base MSRP, and show us the actual vehicle. They will also have the two other SUV's that they will be releasing soon, and my guess a surprise vehicle. They always have a vehicle that they don't tell anyone about and show it briefly to get dealers pumped. Anyhow just thought you guys would like to put an end to the VII/VIII debate.

so does that mean US Evo8 at the end of January, and official spec/price release following the July meeting?

Than why would Mitsu officals say we are getting the Evo 7?

 

's official press release only said the Lancer EVO (or Bionic Lancer )

How can the EVO 8 be finished??? Come on...it doesnt come out untill February 03 here in Japan so I doubt they are showng a final production model over in the US!

 

I think he means it will be called Evo VIII with a different bumper and the same stylings of the VII. It won't be the EXACT Evo VIII that is being produced, but more or less a pre-Evo VIII for US consumers

Ehm....he was pretty clear!! I'm sure you will discuss optons and prices but I very much doubt you will see the finished car! BTW I've heard that to pass US crash regulations the IC has to be moved.....

Probably the Airtreck?? They have just released a special version here with the Evo 4G63 engine..sligtly detuned to 240bhp.

 

I just received this from a high up source in Mitsubishi:

"This is a "worldwide" launch, so MMSA is not in the position to announce in advance, unless it is strictly embargoed until January.
.
We hope to be able to provide some information in late fall or early winter (how's that for vague?) - again, with an embargo -- date still tbd"

 

Maybe the final production model isn't done, but i'm sure they have something ready to show the dealers. I would think they have to have it ready soon to get the production lines ready and spitting out cars for a Jan/Feb 2003 release... I just hope it's not delayed much more... i dunno how long i can wait!!

 

Still sounds a bit doubtful to me ....why don't you people understand that dealers have pretty much squat to do with the development of cars...and they are pretty much the last people to see the final versions!! Don't believe everything you hear!!
