evo 1 valve question kinda 1g and 2g 4g63 valves any different?

Im just curious as to if the 1g and 2g 4g63 valves are any different. I cant remember if evo 1 4g63's use 1g or 2g parts.

It would seem that they would use 1g parts to be correct with the era, but I seem to think when I got the waterpump for it I had to get a 2g as the 1g wouldnt fit.

thanks,
Mathew

I am almost certain that the valves from the 1g and 2g are the same. If I remember correctly the rocker arms and valves are both identical. I think its just the lifters that are different. The 1g has a smaller hole in the top of the lifter then the 2g. Let me double check on that and I'll get back to you.

if this helps i just took my brand new daul springs and ti retainers off my 1g 6bolt head and has them put in my evo 9 head(they were new.).

when i asked supertech if the springs could work in the 9 head they said yes, that they are exact same heads,... so i would think the answer toy our question is yes.

the valves interchange just fine. but evos from 1-9 came with a filled exhaust valve that copes with heat better. it will have a 6N on the face of valve. the intake will have 6T. all the 1g and 2g cars came with 6T intake and exhaust.

hmm interesting, and kinda ****ty. where did you get those sources from? Considering others have interchanged dsm and evo 9 valves(same as evo1) would it technically be fine?(just wont be sodium filled)

its jsut there is quite a noticeable difference on valve pricing on 1g and 2g vs evo 8 :/ and im really pinching here

Thumbs up

My source is the Mitsu ASA progs (JDM and USDM) current up to JAN 2010. Its true that you can mix and match the parts, but installing the EVO 8/9 parts is the best from stock selection.

Thanks for the response. Although I would like to have gotten the correct evo valves money didn't allow me to so I'm waiting for some dsm valves. Thank you everyone for your input
