Just bought a EVO IX, noisy strut, please help!!!!!

Hey guys, just bought a 06 ix, 49xxx miles on it completely stock. I heard the sound when I got it, it sounds like a loose driver side strut, it only makes noise when i turn right, every other aspect of driving the car is fine, turns, and drives perfectly, I noticed that the rubber housings on top are a little cracked, but nothing bad. has anybody experienced anything like this?

Only noise when you turn right? That doesn't seem like the strut then...push down on the car where the strut is. If it makes noise then its the strut, if it doesn't it is something else.

Just because it makes noise does not rule it out as the strut being the problem though. It could be just the mount and the whole strut itself is fine. If the strut is bad, you will see a bunch of oil on the shaft of the strut. The mount will make a type of knocking noise when you bounce the car.

also look at your control arms & bushings also make sure all the nuts & bolts are there and tight as a first step. may be strut but there is no noise while going straight or making left turn making it seem like something else.

you know mitsubishi does a free 27 point inspection. let them diagnose it then get it fixed or do it yourself.

I actually have the exact same issue, only when turning right. I'm thinking it's either the strut mount or possibly a bad wheel bearing.

Are there any Polyurethane bushings in the front control arms? Jack it up and check, you'll be able to tell.

Hey guys thanks for all the help so fast. I put the car in the air today and I found a ready to blown tie rod, and the front strut housing (rubber ones) are cracked and give a lot. Deffintely the source and the car is under warranty and will go in on Monday.

Finally had t figured out, it was missing a bolt through one of the motor mounts, replaced it and all is good now
