Question Intercooler sprayer

I've searched and haven't found what i'm wondering. Maybe some one can point me in the right direction. When put in AUTO mode does the ECU control the sprayer? And what parameters trigger the sprayer? and if the ECU controls it, can these be modified when the car is tuned?

I'm very interested in this as well, at first I thought the IC sprayer was pretty neat but honestly, I have not used it since the second week I purchased the car. Plus, a filled tank is a lot of dead weight at a polar end of the car, so the weight savings could definitely be worth it if you were to just rip the whole system out.

been awhile since i had an evo 8 but i think in auto it cuts on at WOT.

try turning the ignition on and putting the pedal to the floor to see, but then again the engine might need to be on.

Plus IMO, The spray would be GREAT with ice in it in the summer time, esp if your still running the stock IC.

Yes, the ECU controls the sprayer in auto. From what I've read there is a long series of conditions that have to be satisfied before the sprayer will spray. The threashold of these conditions are set to only be satisfied in extreme (racing) conditions and then th ECU is very frugal with the water so that the water carried will last the duration of the event.

So can the parameters in the ECU be changed? Maybe on of the tuners can chime in.

do a search for the tephra mods (ecu section). They have ecu updates for better control over the I/C sprayer. Even if you just wanted to change the thresholds, this would be good place to start your research.
