We got screwd
to the guy with the complex about mustangs at stop lights:
are you saying that evo owners should BREAK THE LAW and STREETRACE and expect be covered under warrantee? you're implying that warrantees should cover illegal activities? that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard.

Thanks to those who agree with me (Az3ar, Blonde) ...however I DEFINITELY think the brakes should be taken care of from Mitsu. I know that its a problem with Acura's, my fathers TL has slightly warped rotors, Acura told him to bring it in whenever he wants and it will be taken care of, free of charge. I also had the same problem with my first car (97 Mustang) yeah i know! Anyway ford had no problem turning down my rotors, free of charge. Try a few more dealers, they should def help you out. Good luck! If brakes are shot at these low miles Mitsu should not be asses about it and take care of them, no wonder this company isnt doing so well, it's all about customer service!!!

Agree %100 With blue rocket, best said so far. But I think the rotors should be under warranty?? What you guys think?? If not I will be more than happy to go and buy some real Endless Rotors but till then I want to see if they will change the rotors. Anyways why I am asking for warranty is because, no one is sure where the problem is???so even if i change my Rotos and my pads and still shakes I will go crazy. by the way I dont care about some flames from some Z 28 or cobra owners so I will be the firefighter, dont worry

however, since it's ILLEGAL, why should mitsu pay for the results of illegal evo use? that's my point. i was purely commenting on his remark.
drag racing from stop light to stop light is dangerous and more abusive on the car than driving like 20 miles over the limit.
and for those that modify their evos and expect to be covered by warranty? c'mon now... despite ALL these people preaching about how the evo is supposed to be modified and all, why should it fall on mitsu's doors to say "hey, we'll pay to cover any problems that arise from non-mitsu parts that have been put on by non-mitsu mechanics?" it's ridiculous. a 100 dollar header off of ebay put on by the 'guy down the street' suddenly blows up your engine and you decide to take it to mitsu cuz it's their problem? c'mon. now i realize not many, if any, evo drivers would do such a stupid thing, but where do you draw the line? you can't. mitsu covers mitsu things.
but in the end, it's the same ol' saying: if you wanna play you gotta pay.
well i drive my evo about as hard as i drove my S2000, and the S2000 broke a crap load more than the evo. only problem i have with my evo is a 5th gear grind, and only when shifting at a high rpm into fifth from any gear (5k+)... i have no problem with mitsubishi refusing to repair parts from very abusive activities, drag racing, ect ect. but the problem here is that NA mitsubishi is being childish with refusing claims based on other ppl's record of racing the car. hell my clutch slipped bad once and got glased, but i drove it very gently for about 5000 miles and i wore the glase off. i know the stock clutch is a POS but if it died i wouldent try to get mitsubishi to fix it since i know that the stock clutch should last for atleast 50000 miles if you dont abuse the car. plus why would i want another stock clutch? just so it can wear out as fast as the original one did if i was abusing my car? no way.. i would invest in a high performance clutch along the lines of a ACT 2600... but then again i dont think i would want the ACT 2600 since it grabs like a **** (ACT 2600 was the reason my supercharged S2000 destroyed its diff on the first launch(well besides the defective diff)) and i would want the clutch to slip and burn before i did any major damage to the rest of the drive line. althou i do think mitsu NA is doing some very shady warrenty work, or lack thereof, i also think the ppl that bought the EVO should know what is acceptible abuse and what isnt, and if they are going to want to mod their evo and make it have 400 whp. then they have to expect the clutch to get destroyed and to just bite the bullet and buy a clutch that is ment to handle that type of power. i myself have had some fun with the car but i always try to take it easy.. ive been playing it safe and not over doing it. when i first got the car i told my self i wouldent mod it till atleast 15000 miles just to be sure nothing went wrong with the car. and luck has it nothing major has, i still havent moded it but i think its safe to say nothing is going to go wrong with the car. but if i were to mod it sometime in the near future and lets say the transmission got a hole blown right through the bottom i wouldent pull all the parts off of it and say "gee i dunno what happened, all i do is drive it back and forth to work." NO... i would go out and spend the money on a cryo hardend transmission just so i had peice of mind in the fact that the transmission could handle an ample amount of power. the problem is some ppl are trying to get something for nothing. and the ppl that are, are the same ppl that have no reason to be using the car in a very abusive mannor since if they are trying to get something for nothing then they have no idea how expensive it is to make a very fast drag/track car with upkeep...
i also think one of the problems here is that some ppl think that the WRC EVO uses the exact same parts as ours do... all i have to say is WOW mitsubishi must really over charge ralli art since there EVO prolly costs around $200,000.
.....END OF RANT.....
hope i added something worthwhile to this topic

i also know what im getting into when i finnaly start to modifie my evo, and when i do i onlt expect mitsu to cover parts that have nothing to do with the parts i modified... or that i know had nothing to do with the problem... like say i upgraid the turbo and the AC compressor dies. well then i expect mitsu to replace the ac compressor. and if i upgraid the turbo and the head gasket blows cause i was running way too much boost? well its my god damn fault and i'll get it fixed myself

It's great info.
If pads are not up to temp and you slam on them before warm up you can lay deposits down the rotors, if you overheat them same goes. I've had vibrations through braking a number of times, I simply heat them up and give two or three nice hard stops to "clear" them. Works for me.
Brake pad compound and rotor material are a system...if you change one or the other be ready for different results.
