The ATI ePod is the most functional and best looking gauge pod IMO. Having gauges in the middle consul and glove box might look nice but not very functional as you have to look out of your way to read them.
Here are a couple of options. These were from whe I had my '05 RA...
42 Draft Designs VW Triple Gauge Panel
Autometer Steering Column Dual Gauge Pod
This one has a funny story...
Ran out of gas, TWICE!!!, due to one of the gauges blocking the fuel level gauge. I got so used to seeing the gauge there that I totally forgot to look behind it. I decided to make this one to avoid that.
And this was made for someone, obviously for track use only since there would be no place to put the radio...

There's no need for the everyday, street driven, average-joe, Evo to have 6 gauges. Hell, there's no need for any gauges at all as long as you keep up with routine maintenance and periodic tune-ups. As long as you don't abuse your car, all you need is a good tune.
But I like to know whats going on with my engine when I drive just as much as the next guy so I have the Zeitronix Zt-2 and Zr-2 to tell me AFR and boost on one gauge and it's going in my steering wheel gauge pod column.
I had the gauges from previous application that I definitely needed 5 of the 6 I had (switched to a HKS Camp2 setup). with the evo, I needed to fill the 6th spot, so I bought the EGT gauge.
For a street driven ave Joe car, sure, no need. My car is pushing the limits of a stock block at 535 whp, and I like to know what's going on... besides, they look cool. and you should see the WOWZER looks when you drop the glove box open for the overwhelming display of defi gauges.
I have recently installed a zeitronix ECA so now I am running 7 additional gauges..... and the funny thing is, I don't have a wideband . maybe I'll add one, but I don't want any pillar gauges and don't really like the steering column mounted ones. I feel they are too intrusive
There are ways to mount on the steering column WITHOUT blocking the stock gauges. See attached pics.
The steering column mounts are Summit Racing cups and pedestals for standard 52mm gauges. The triple dash mount is from Autometer.
And yes those are all Autometer Sport Comp II gauges including the WBO2. Uses the Bosch type sensor. I like the way the gauge faces and pointer match the stock ones. I use the Autometer dimmer module to control brightness on all the AM gauges
The stock gauges have the Trust-Z overlays set on blue....since 2006 no issues...but no longer available
Had a triple A pillar pod....blocks ingress and egress a little and also the Visor don't work as it is blocked, unless you pivot it but usually you need it at the angle that is blocked = fail for driving into the sun early morning and evening

What about the rexspeed triple pod ? It's more conveniently positioned
VDO gauges have served me well and by all reviews are accurate and well priced. They just dont have the bling factor that most look for on here but VDO are used on porches and the like so they must be ok
