would you say that would probably be the only FWD car you would own?

i did have a few issues with the car. the shifter fork broke on me and the dealership (since it was still under warranty at the time) tried to tell me i needed a new clutch and trans. (long story short, i battled with the supervisor and his idiot employees when i returned with the stock clutch after they accused me of racing the car, trying to get thru their pea sized brains that i didn't need a new clutch. of course this was after i bought a brand new clutch and my fiancee and i fought to get the trans out in our garage. (FYI - srt4 trans and clutch jobs are a pain imo compared to the evo and dsm ones that i've helped with when you're doing the work outta your 1 car garage.) idk if its cuz i'm a girl that they figured i didn't know anything about cars, but that was the last time that i stepped foot in a dodge dealership.)
from the moment i owned the car, the clutch was never adjusted properly so i had some synch row issues too, but nothing really bad - just more of a p.i.t.a when the car is cold.
also, the wires for the lights melted together and would randomly work or not work (so i had to drive with the brights on sometimes, which really pissed off some people ) i did hear from a few other srt4 owners that they have had a similar experience. makes your commute home more interesting when you smell something burning and the headlights no longer work

but i did push the car and put on 80k miles on it before i sold it, so of course you're gonna run into issues.

if you haven't driven both, i suggest that you do. granted that you'll be able to find a srt4 cheaper then an evo, but it all depends on what your comfortable with. imo...ahnds down go with the evo if you got the funds to afford it.

Hahaha thats quite a story to take into consideration. But oh yea, no doubt ill test drive them all before i buy one. but other than would you say its pretty decent for what you paid for it? like other than the minor issues it was pretty solid as a DD and a street car?
and im probably gonna end up buying an 06 evo haha. i just want all around opinions on the srt just in case i would have to buy that because after looking at how much it is to do work on VW's or Audis and most have FWD, its not worth going that way. There way more expensive.

haha, yeah sorry for the long story, but you've got some of the 'highlights' there.

for what i paid for the srt4, i can't really complain since it got me from point A to point B, and its was perfect for a college student with limited income. i honestly wouldn't recommend getting too mod crazy with the neon cuz its just gonna be a waste (imo) cuz you can't put the power down. if you do go this route, i say limit yourself on what mods you want to put on the srt4 and save your money to be used elsewhere.
dd = yes, street car = errrr, not so much

my srt4 was my first turbo car and i loved it mainly for that reason (yeah, i know....newbie mistake - lol). once i started to get more involved in the mods/repair work, my opinion changed and the rubbermaid-inspired interior lost its appeal. plus, it probably didn't help taking my friends 06 MR out for a ride cuz i instantly fell in love. theres just nothing like launching an awd when you're use to chrippin the tires thru first and second with the srt4

PM me if you have more questions. i'd be happy to share my experiences/aggrevation.

happy hunting
kristin

Haha thank you will do. But im not going to lie, this is one of the reasons why i like it, its cheap and turbo'd. Im turning 17 when i get this car in about 8 months but i need to do as much research as i can so i dont make the wrong choice hence why ill test drive them and dont worry im not irreponsible like most teens are and i wont beat on the car haha, im looking for one thats easy to work on cause ill be working on it all the time. I want a fun, street car. i know alot about cars so far, ive been in evos, stis and srts. There all fun. The evo first got me into cars in 4th grade lol. Thats what ive also been thinking about, i dont want to get to mod crazy with the srt because i dont think it will be worth it that much but i would do a couple things here and there. Im pretty sure the srt is a good starter car to get used turbo'd cars. Like i said ill probably end up with an 06 evo gsr in the end. Thanks alot though.

I can only judge by what i've experienced..
My boyfriend has an evo, my friend had an srt4.
Personally driving both, there is something that feels so cheap and dinky about the srt4. The drive isn't as fun. The look obviously no competition , evo wins that category hands down, exterior and interior. the overall quality , definitely the evo... If you're looking to not spend as much money, then go for the srt4 but the extra money you'd be spending on the evo would be for a good reason, its just a better car all around.

Yea haha i was thinking the same think, no doubt the evo is a better car but the srt can compete with it a little lol

the SRT-4's are nice, and can be fun, but the Evo will be so much more worth your while.
