Co-efficient drag of Evo without the wing?
I don't know about that but the car would be unstable at such high speeds no matter what kind of suspension or downforce spoiler you have.I very much doubt Evo's doing 160mph+ because the 5th gear doesn't meant to be a race gear.Evo's usually go from 1st to 4th gears are the evo's power. But in a straight line it will reduce drag and off the line you will spin some tires. How I know this is because I saw a race between a Evo and supra pretty much both were over 500hp.Obviously from the dig evo killed it but from a roll evo was ahead by 1 1/2 cars but supra reeled in 5th gear and went 2 cars ahead. The top speed runs are not for evo's just my thoughts....I could be wrong.
The wing cannot handle speeds of over 170 mph. My wing broke in two running the mile here in Miami. The car went 186mph with the wing, and 188 mph without. It lost some stability, but not much. These cars are not meant to go that fast anyway. At the next event I should go a bit faster. I will then find out how stable it is.

I understand they are not meant for high speeds, just trying to figure out what the best option to do is. Wing or no wing? This closed airport is gonna be the new racing spot in my area. Its gonna be dig races and roll races. Some of the cars are top speed cars like the c6 z06, techart tt911, hpf m3s, so i need to figure what speed to go to and wing or no wing. Less drag more top end ect.

should definately be over 850whp on the low side. on rolls its break boost the hell out of it and get out ahead as far as i can. the owner of the airport is actually a big fan of the moscow 500 unlimited, where its a contolled shut down 2 mile road that they race for a mile. so no wing?

I've been searching and came up with Evo viii coefficient drag of .36 to .38 and Evo ix with vortex generator .34 to .35 . These are wing on. A c6 zo6 has .26 to .27 . So with a wing on my car it will take far more power for me to overcome the 140-150 than the vette. I wo deer if the coeffiant drag of a Evo with no wing would be close to a lancer non Evo? If so they are like .30
The function of the wing is to provide rear downforce. There will be some drag, but good drag. Without it, the rear would become very light and swing out (oversteer).
I can cite one specific case where an Evo owner was running the standing mile and decided to remove his wing to get more speed up top. He gained 2 mph I think ... above the 170 mph mark ... then he spun the car when he let off the throttle due to the lack of downforce.

i hate the wing. go no wing. i have done speeds of 150+ mph without the wing. your going straight.
not like this. when he gets squirelly as he breaks and goes into the turn.

At willow i could feel my Spoiler wobbling around turn 9, granted it was a very windy day but the thing its as sturdy as it looks. On a side note after all the wrecked Evo threads I have seen , seems like the wing is the only thing that ever survives the crash; go figure lol.
