Yeah... not sure if they're going to give you a brand new bumper (or money for one) for that kind of damage.

Try it anyway. It wouldn't hurt. Obviously their client is at fault, so they might just cooperate fully and replace it. At the very least, you'll get a repaint (or money for it) or a full exterior detail or something.

^ Just pray that the insurance company doesn't decide to search through the Evo forums if they get suspicious, otherwise charges of insurance fraud are on the horizon. Remember the guy who crashed his GT-R while chasing an Evo IX? Yeah, he got busted because of the internet.

That seems like a pretty high quote for a repaint. They may make you have another quote done at their shop. Insurance companies are more stingy because of the economy. If they do quote you for $650 then tell them to cut you a check and you are going to have it done yourself. Then by a JDM rear.

I'm not sure how it works in CA but in IL I'm pretty sure the law is that you can definitely request that they just give you a check. In no way are you obilgated to get the damage repaired and you're also free to take it to any body shop you like to have the work done. Again, that's how it works here in IL but IDK about CA. Personnally, I keep waiting for this to happen to me so I can go get my JDM rear I'm gonna have to practice sounding mad when I talk to the insurance company though

What about this is insurance fraud? I skimmed the post... the hammer idea... yeah insurance fraud...

buying a JDM rear not insurance fraud.

OP,
I just got in a wreck with my evo, damage was a little worse but PROGRESSIVE said a US spec bumper cost 800, unpainted, so they gave me 1k to for a bumper - I bought an authentic JDM rear for 790 or whatever at driveline, You also need to think about your crash beam. Stock crashbeam = 400 ... demonwerks crashbeam (fits JDM rear) = 250 . Remember you cannot get a stock crashbeam to fit jdm rear without some modification, also think about the fitment of your exhaust.

thread about my collision, i hate how you cant repost pictures on the forums, retarded.
