Top Speed and Gear Ratio/Final Drive
I have the Sheptrans 5 speed ultimate ratio with 4.11 upgrade.
here in South Africa we have 1km top speed runs, I managed to get 177mph (283kph) with a really bad bogged launch so we lost about 20m acceleration at the start, I think the revs were about 7400rpm.The SkylineR35 with AMS 1000hp engine and full HKS GT800 kit ran (186mph) 300kph

....."Today on fox new, An idiot on the freeway crashes his evo at approximately 170+ MPH killing himself plus other drivers".... I can see it already...

...j/king hahai posted this because me and 2 other local Canadian evo 8-9s had this debate a year ago. so now we know we dont need a built transmission to go up to 9k rpm. we just need a built 2.0/2.1L engine and head
we originally thought we needed to modify the gear ratios and final drive to achieve such a high speed. such as a 2.3L stroker which a max of 8500rpm due to a not so perfect rod to stroke ratio, this would probably need at least a final drive assuming it has a 5 speed to achieve such speeds. Where as a built 2.0L/2.1L reving to 10k rpm could use stock gears/final drive whether 5speed or 6speedP.S, well live in Canada, i dont think fox news would cover us. Plus the news would probably say 272km/h+ instead of 170mph+

not that you should go that fast! its very dangerous :P remeber its all theory haha
it really depends on your Rev limit. If you are limited by revs, probably no more than 165mph? maybe?

haha coming from the guy who drives a 500-580whp evo right? :P and i wanted to go 187mph+ aka 300km/h+

I think if the cars gearing and power allows for it it should hit 200mph the question would be over what distance , here in South Africa we use a bench mark 1km=1000m in the USA you guys use the mile =1600+-m.
I would be really interested in anyone who has a tool that could estimate possible 1mile speed based on a given 1km speed.
I watched some youtube videos of the Moscow 500 and there a drag evo did 187 mph in the mile but seemed to hit his limiter well before the traps.
Would be nice if Mike and the AMS crew chimed in with some tips to increase speed over these distance like aero tips.

Can anybody give me the gear ratios for the Evo IX MR 6-spd so I can do my own calculations for top speed (and tractive forces based off my own dyno plots)? I can make one for your car too if you send me your ratios and an accurate dyno plot. This will show the proper shifting points for each gear. But I need those ratios, including final drive.
