Weird Ticking or Tapping Noise????

Hearing a strange Tapping noise that only occurs while in gear between the 2500 to 4500 RPM range and only between 1-10 psi of boost. It's not very loud at all but I'm still concerned about it. Any ideas what it could be?

Where's it coming from? If you have a downpipe, you might want to check that for any clearance issues.

It's hard to pin point where it's coming from cause I can only hear it while I'm in the car driving But it sounds kind of lower in the firewall area.

I'll get down and look at the down pipe as soon as I can but it's snowing today so it might be a day or two

I had a DSM that would do this. It was a playing card in a bicycle wheel sort of sound. It turned out to be a balance shaft bearing.

Well it's not really card in wheel sound. Did you have to take it apart to know it was the bearing for sure?

No, never fixed it - got rid of it instead.

The balance shafts turn at twice engine speed. So, if they rattle it is a high frequency rattle. Nothing else in the engine is turning at that speed.
