1989 R32 GTR or 2006 EVO IX?
After doing some soul searching and crying, I believe I will be selling my EVO IX prior to going to Okinawa in January of next year. I have decided this because my EVO will be placed in storage for the next 3 years, AND a magical thing happens in 2014, for those of you who do not know here is a piece of info on importing JDM vehicles:
"If the car is 25+ years old, the federal laws seem to have been recently rewritten to allow import without any EPA or DOT requirements, which would negate any possible reason to use a registered importer, or any company for any purpose other than to obtain the vehicle or make sure it is as described and in a condition you want it to be in. Check the federal law and consult US Customs. Then check with your state laws to see what is required to register it, or if there is anything to keep you from registering it."
So guess how old a 1989 GTR R32 will be in 2014? That's right math majors 25 years old! So despite my deep love for my EVO I do believe I will be selling it (2006 EVO IX, SSL, Silver, 40000 miles) in order to purchase a R32 when I get to Okinawa next year.
What do you guys think? Get the Skyline, or keep the EVO?

keep the evo no brainer majority of older vechicals start to have major issues and become money pits not to mention could be hard to find certain parts making it annoying been there done that keep new car

You really got to be outside your mine to get me to get rid of my IX. I already know that it is going to the grave with me. J/K. Nah, but I too, like some, is the original and proud owner of the IX. Not a tough decision at all. Like most have said, prep for storage of your evo and save for the GTR. If I am not mistaken, but you sound like you are military. I am Air Force and have been stationed in Misawa, Japan and made awesome moola. The R32 is my fav of the GTR fam and I plan to do just as you are when I get the opportunity.

Thanks for the replies guys, even my wife wants me to keep my EVO (thats nice right). I have talked with my father and it looks like he may "take care of it for 3 years" , he has a 300 WHP WRX, so he will have 2 cool cars to drive around. I think I may still get a 89 GTR R32 for my DD while in Japan and keep my EVO with my dad.

I lived in Okinawa(camp Kindser sp?) when I was a kid...every car we had rusted so bad. I would just find something unique or cool to drive when you are over there instead of messing with upkeep, but keep the evo for when you return.

that gave me a good laugh... I would keep the evo also
