Do you know what the weight saving is removing them?

Where is West Bloomfield do you live? I live there too. Are you on mievo?

FWIW I have a JDM evo 9 RS and my doors have crash beams, they seem/feel very lightweight so I personally would never try to remove them. OP you worked at a crash test facility, and you still want to do this?
why don't you try to shave weight where your life or your passenger's isn't at stake?
Just saying...

Full track cars usually have cages. Then removing crash beams is no problem because you get the protection from the cage.

That door beam saved my *** when I got T-boned by a big Chevy SUV with a steel brush guard/cow pusher.

The crash beams were changed to aluminum in all years after 03. The weight savings would be very minimal at best.

If you don't believe me, open the door of an 03...then open a door of a new model. There is a significant weight difference. You can also tell when closing the doors. The 03 makes a distict THUD while the new models sound more tingy.

Even DB suggests to leave them in because of the difficulty of removing them without messing up the door itself.

If you really want to lose weight in the doors, get the carbon fiber ones. After all, if you are building a "race car" why not do it all of the way?
