where can I get an Evo shop manual?
where can I get an Evo shop manual?
Hey all, this is just nuts, but I am having the dickens of a time finding a repair manual for my Evo IX. I've checked auto parts stores, and they don't have one, and can't even order one. Chilton's does not even publish one. There is some screwy computer subscription service that offers an Evo manual, which cost me $30 but it totally sucks. The diagrams are tiny and unreadable and hard to find stuff. I've also gone to the dealer, and all they could come up with was an electrical repair supplement manual. They also said their mechanics use a special shop manual that is not for sale to the public. So if anyone on these forums have a decent manual, I'd appreciate knowing where you got it, and what part number it is. Thanks!
Yep, as others have said ebay the cd rom manual. It's excellent and very reasonably priced. It looks like if you want to now you can opt for instant download instead of waiting for the CD.

This is not the Owner's Manual that comes with our car, this is a complete Repair and Service Manual that is usually only sold to dealerships and auto shops. This is the manual they use to make repairs and service your car. This manual is designed specifically for this vehicle model and includes over 1000 pages of detailed illustrations as well as step by step instructions for any minor and major repair and service your car might need, from fluid changes to rebuilding your transmission. This manual has everything you need to know to do any repair yourself: repair/maintenance procedures, part layouts, wiring schematics, part numbers, electrical diagrams, computer diagnostic codes, suspension, brakes, air bags, air conditioning, engine/transmission service, body work and a lot more.

If the online ebay evo shop manual is anything like the sti manual, it's awesome. Being in a searchable format is nice since it's easier to type a search in for what you're looking for vs. manual searching through the pages.
Just an update. I went to the link below, purchased, and downloaded the manual. It turns out the download only gave me a supplemental update document, not the full manual! The cover page of the downloaded document clearly states that it is a supplement, and looking through the doc, it is obviously not a complete manual. There is nothing about brakes and clutch lines, and the wheels and tires section only talks about how to remove flat repair fluid from the tire. I've emailed the vendor to ask for the full manual, hope I'm not screwed for the $5. I will post an update when this is resolved.
BTW, thanks to the other guy for the google suggestion, but I don't like pirating stuff. Everyone has their comfort level and this is just me. I won't judge you for your choice, and hope u understand.
Thanks again everyone!
