5 speeds are not god thus why post useless suggestions when the 6 speed is able to be built now.

Why not do the 6 speed from shep as its cheaper and less headache.

1.) it's not that much cheaper
2.) it's unproven.

#2 is probably the biggest reason. If I'm spending $3k, it better be proven.

It's $1900 for the gears. I believe you'll have to get new syncros (etc) which will add to the cost. Was the $1900 also to install the gears or just for the gears? Again, you keep adding up things. I could be wrong, but I thought the $1900 wasn't with the FD.

Just checked and the FD is another $900 on top. $1000 for labor. So now without FD or syncros you are at $2900. With FD and no syncros you are at $3800. Add in shipping costs....blahh blah blah. Much more expensive imo. And to stress, it's not proven like the 5spd.

If they haven't been tested how do you or he know?

Sorry but 5spd has track record. New 6spd doesn't.

The six speed has been tested. Do you really think shep just threw together some gears and put a price tag on it....

You should have everyone also mention what type of driving/racing they do, as the 6sp is most likely to fail on the road course.

He supposedly had 2 sets, 1 of which went missing with the tester. 2 sets of 6spd gears vs 1000s of 5spds. When these new 6spd gears hold up to the same length of time and abuse the 5spds have I'll be convinced. It's an expensive gamble. I don't like buying things twice.

That was at the star as the 5 speed went through the same. There were two test cars and one run off and was sold. But there are 2 final drives 4.09 and 4.11 the syncros come with the 1900 if you go with the 4.11 then its over 2 g almost 3.

424hp/445tq stock 6spd. Still holding strong. Been to a few Auto-X events, never dragged.
