Hello All,
Im looking to get a feel for what #'s people have before they decided to upgrade the gears, do a 5Spd Swap, or the 6Spd straight up went to crap on them. Im pretty much just interested in #'s and how long you were able to run those # before you decided to change things up or it quit on you. We all know that the MR 6SP has many discussions and yes i have searched. But just trying to get a consolidated thread of straight #'s and what not.
I picked an IX MR that the previous owner said that it was making close to 360whp, not sure about trq. When i get back to the states i will be working with English Racing on my 60k Maintenance and a Full tune. Im trying to do research now of what else i might need to look into. Upgrading gears, new clutch (stock clutch 54k).
Thanks for the help hope i don't get flamed and tell me to search. I really want to get a consolidated thread on what #'s people have.
Thanks
Steve

445hp 455tq @ 27psi on 93oct - AMS Mustang dyno
Only been running for about 2 months and already changing parts to make more power. Still on stock trans and t-case.

440whp/ 415tq on a dynojet.... Exedy HD twin disc clutch, Stock 6-speed, Transfercase, and Rear Diff.
I drag race, autocross and Time Attack. Tranny is a little notchy now but still holding up. Ive been at these numbers for an entire season of racing (6 drag events, 15 autocrosses, 2 Time Attacks) About 40+ launches at 6500rpms and plenty of WOT pulls in 1-5th gears...
Ive punished this tranny, and its held up

340 whp, 300 wtq on a dyno dynamics, trap speed is 115 mph in the 1/4 banging the limiter at 8000 rpm in 4th. Bought the car with 12,000 miles on it, I'm now at 54,000 and have had all the same power mods since then along with the same tune. Still on the stock 6 speed, clutch, and t-case. The transmission has that infamous 6th gear difficulty from the bent shifter slides(my fault). The stock 6 speed may not be as strong as the 5 speed, but it's taken everything I've thrown at it and it's still holding up. I dd my car as well, I went from 12,000 miles to 54,000 in 2 and a half years.
Good luck with your new purchase

Sheperd does make a 6-speed built trans for those who do need to upgrade from stock.
Even if you do end up blowing the trans, you just get a built trans when it happens. Spending that money now is a waste. Either way you will spend it when you get the high power levels.
