holes in manifold port? your opinion needed

holes in manifold port? your opinion needed

hey guys i bought this manifold off a member and noticed inside each of the ports theres a small hole. is this normal? i wanted to get your opionion. dont know too much about manifolds. its a megan manifold.he said he coated it black which i thought was poorly done. but for 85 bucks shipped you cant beat that. what do you think?

those are the holes for the exhaust to get to the bungs that have the plugs on them. If you wanted to setup a EGT gauge, it would read right off the head.

you shouldve saved your money.... that manifold will crack and be worthless soon. theres a reason why they are so cheap

The holes are supposed to be there. Its for secondary air system not used in the US. Sec air is just an emissions control to heat cat up on cold starts.

evo joe, what if i have a welder reinforce the welds already on the manifold. will it hold up then? i heard of the manifolds cracking but i also hear people say they never cracked either.

Could have got your stock one ported to make more power and last a lifetime vs some ****ty jdm metal which will 100% crack

It would probably be less likely to crack if you made sure to use an 02 housing that has the oem support mount tab. The megan manifolds are not exactly the best ones out there but I know someone who has been running one on his dd evo for a few years now and his hasnt cracket... yet. I would personally sell that manifold and use the money to have your oem manifold ported by buschur.

ok then. well, ill put it on and when it cracks ill have someone reweld it and then sell it. then port my stocker. thanx though.
