Automobile has different covers for the subscriber and newstand issues. Contents are the same. Next time, open the magazine

Do not get the Evo. It doesn't have any stability systems and is very unstable. The only thing it's good for is doing doughnuts......

The article I read about the Sport ABS mentioned that it sensed lateral gs, longitudinal gs, steering angle and wheel spin. I'm guessing that the system is "AYC"-like when the ABS is activated. I haven't tested it yet...

I also came from an S4. I don't miss it.

I had the exact same experience! A close friend of mine in Istanbul had a mildly modded Evo 6--Tommi Makinen Edition that he sold to get a Ferrari 355 Challenge car. Everyday he complained how the Evo was so much more fun, accelerated better, braked better, and was more controllable at the limit. (By the way, this guy is an accomplished road racer and is now a factory driver on the Fiat/Abarth rally team...so he REALLY drove the Ferrari hard.) The 355 Challenge was so freaking fast, plus the 355 is generally considered one of the sweetest handling modern Ferraris. I couldn't believe that the Evo could be better.

Then he broke down and bought another Evo 6--TME, but this one was stock and a little beat up. I never had so much fun in a car! I was totally blown away by the car in every respect. That's when I knew I had to get one. Sadly, I had to wait several years before an Evo became available in the US. Now that I have one, I'm in heaven!

Your brain, your reflexes, and your right foot. Seriously, the Evo 8 doesn't have any active safety systems besides EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and ABS. It's a very high-strung car with hyperactive reflexes. You really need to be in control and focused when driving hard. That's what I love about the car!

When I was still driving BMW's, the first thing I would do before heading out on the track is to disable the stability/traction control and disconnect the ABS relay. All that electronic crap really interferes with track driving because it makes your car unpredictable at the limit. I love how the Evo is a real drivers car that rewards smooth, positive inputs and forces the driver to step up. Not everyone is comfortable with that, so you have to seriously consider whether the car is right for your driving style.

That is great! I just hope that they make at least ACD available in the near future in US...

I had a chance to drive 5 ,6tme, 7 and 8 (8 is under my name too ) All I can say is, if you drive it hard, really hard, then go with the evo! You would love it... it is awd so it takes less skills to drive it hard..

Good luck
