Hopefully switching To Evo 9 From M3.

Hey Guys, newbie here! I am Currently looking to trade or buy an evo 9 and wondering what advice to give me after coming from an E46 M3. Such as what to look for when buying, problems I should look for etc.. maintenance issues... and also if anyone is looking for a Clean E46 M3 with tasteful mods Thanks!

Welcome! However, this isn't the right forum, you should've made this thread in the newbie/FAQ one.

nice , but dont be surprised if the evo feels like a go kart compared to the bmw. bmw's ride like their on air, not so much an evo.

E46 M3 don't ride like their on air....besides better dampening from the factory they don't differ much from a stock MR in ride quality or steering response if you have the comp package. Just thought I would throw that in there.

To the OP if your car had lower miles I would think about it but 100k miles is a decent amount for an O5 M3. I assume your DD?

well our 2006 330xi does. and I had a bmw master mechanic living beside me for 3 years that brought home a new bmw every 2 weeks, concepts etc.. and they all rode very good.

Go hop in your BMW after driving the evo and tell me its not night and day.. my evos not a typical evo, but its night and day difference from the bmw.

Id still take my evo over the bmw any day, im just sayin. I havent been in a m3/m5 since 2005 tho, so i cant speak for newer ones.

Well a 330i is a far cry from an M3...especially an E46 to an E90 chassis with the rubbery hydraulic subframe bushings that make the car ride like a caddy.

I agree with you some though...having a heavily modded evo with Ohlins and uber duber high springrates any of the new BMW's feel like a cloud in comparison. Even the new M3's I have drove feel quite soft.

yeah a 330Xi is in no way shape or form a comparison for the M3. my brother's got an 06 330Xi, and it rides like mush. the M3 is a great car, but they are a lot slower than the EVO IX stock for stock. good luck finding an EVO.

I have driven a few of my friends Evo 9s... I know what im in for ride quality! And the reason for change is to have awd but still have a fun DD. Stock for Stock M3 is still quicker... I ran my car once and did a 13.1 Evo i believe is 13.7? But I know the evo is so easy to mod and make faster! Cant wait for a new project! I will definitely miss my M3 though...
