6400 miles and new breaks!!!!!!!!!

Yes you heard right, I was unlucky yesterday to pick up a rock in my break pads which scored the pad and rotor! These pads had so much life left it was sickening. I dont know how this happened but its costing me $250 because they have to resurface the front rotors. I was on my way home from school on a regular paved clean road. I knew it was a rock because the pad kept rubbing and making a scraping noise. This just SUCKS for me. I swear, I have had my car back from the hit and run accident for about a week and this happens. Mitsu F-U for that poor design in that area!

Sorry to hear about that man. Good luck. Look at it this way though; If you get aftermarket pads and rotors it's an upgrade!

You'd figure that since the car was designed with rallying in mind and the brakes (correct spelling) are from Brembo that you wouldn't run into a problem like that.

Sorry to hear about your brakes, but I have about 16k on mine with no problems, including NO warped rotors. Just a bad luck situation, I wouldn't blame Mitsubishi for it.

picking up a small stone in a brake is just bad luck.... I had it happen in my Cobra, Geo Prizm (winter car), and once already in my Evo... if you hear an odd scraping sound from your brake/wheel area, pull over & check it out

they charged you for resurfacing the rotors? It should be covered under warranty, I got all four rotors resurfaced for free.

Well I just spoke to the service manager and they resurfaced the rotors and did not change the breaks because I told them there was no reason to. Its not covered under warranty because it has nothing to do a defect or anything that is their fault, it is simply bad luck.

Changed all pads about 10000miles. Cost me about 140 for the fronts and 90 for the rear at MachV. I purchased the last set they had in stock for that price. I installed them myself. They told me the price was going up to about 224 for the front pads. The increase due to MMC those bastards, I think they want 250 for the front pads

Pads? Expensive?
Last I checked, a set of fronts were all of 65 bucks and as long as you're not a complete moron, you can and should DIY
