Still having upstream O2 sensor issues

So a few months back my check engine light went on and I pulled a P0130 code. So I went out and bought a bosch sensor to replace the shot stock sensor. I went through two of those with no success and ended up buying a denso oem style sensor still with no success. Now I am starting to wonder if my issues are more so electrical like a ground wire is out or something. I called a budy of mine who works at a shop and he told me that sometimes the 8's and 9's are particular about using the straight up mitsu sensor from the dealership but id like to hear some input before I drop 500 bones for a sensor that may not even be broken in the first place. Symptoms are rough idle, horrible gas mileage, running very rich, when coming to a stop in neutral it'll damn near kill itself, and when its been driving for a few mins it'll start to sputter real hard (almost sounds like a bike, and its not a spark plug kind of sputter either). Its a 2003 VIII GSR btw. Any help would be awesome, thanks.

i used the denso style 02 on my 9 and everything worked fine. with the symptoms your having it almost sounds as if you have a bad MAF sensor. Do you have any mods? wish i could help more just hard to do so over the internet.

I have a couple mods, hks short ram, 3" test pipe, ported turbo, cams. I haven't throw any maf codes on the check engine though. If it was a maf why would it still throw the O2 sensor code?

Could it be as simple as a dirty maf filter?

you do NOT need a genuine mitsu sensor. I am running a $90 one from o2sensors.com. I broke my oem sensor removing the o2 housing. didn't know it until I reinstalled it and threw the same p0130 code. the broken sensor will put the car into some kind of 'safe' or 'limp' mode. just fixing the broken sensor wont fix the car running like crap, you have to clear the code too. after i replaced the sensor and cleared the code, i got tuned right away so I can't say that the car returned to normal just from clearing the code. Also, try to avoid buying the sensor replacement that u have to wire in...just buy the direct replacement to take the possible errors in wiring out of the equation.

Yep...I usually unplug the neg batt terminal to reset. Damn I was hoping that was it. So you've repleaced the o2, reset the ecu and ur still getting the same recurring code or just the car is still running crappy? what's the exact name on the p0130? front o2 insufficiency or catalyst insufficiency? I'm stumped

Yup same code and runnin crappy. My thought was the engine ground maybe? If its failed or failing since the car is direct current wouldn't that mean that potentialy the sensor would be getting current but no return current to the ecu from the sensor because its not grounded properly?
