Evo rims...a hot item!

Also with Mitsu as a middleman for the seats, they're going to cost more.
One of the major factors affecting replacement cost is that Mitsubishi has to stock them as replacements for years just in case someone needs an Recaro seat for a 2003 Evo in 6 years or so after the car is out of production... storing and keeping track of those parts is expensive. I remember reading that for any car, buying the parts alone to build it from the parts counter at the dealer would be at least 3X the sticker price of the car... this is before you factor in labor. I used to work on lean manufacturing software, using principles that the Japanese invented to reduce cost and increase quality... it's pretty amazing how much easier it is to control costs when you know exactly what your input and output should be day in and day out... but when they have to manage supply channels for an unpredictable demand (i.e. providng the end purchasers with parts and support), it becomes wayyy more expensive. And of course the manufacturers are more than happy to pass the cost to us.. they have enough trouble making money as it is.
Here's an example. I went to Mitsubishiparts.net, which is generally cheaper than the dealer. On this page, you can see the factory recaro seats and order them: recaros Once you add up all the parts for the seat cushion, the seat back, and the racks, it works out to be $2560 PER SEAT. At the dealer it would be around 3 grand undiscounted. So it looks like that's the real price, folks.

Some punks tried to jack my seats a few months ago (they got two bolts loose on the passenger seat before a neighbor scared them away)...but it's a tough heist cuz it's pretty much impossible to get the seats out without removing the center console...take a look inside your own Evo and you'll see what I mean. I have the wheel locks, though, so my rims were safe.
I was thinking of getting an alarm, but an alarm wouldn't have helped me in that case cuz I was out of town for the weekend...I'm taking the Evo next time!

Instead of Low Jack, you guys should consider getting the GPS tracking thing instead. I forget the company that does this but one of my buddy has one and it's cool as hell. With Low Jack, you actually have to be near or around the car to actually find it, plus you're following blinking lights. With the GPS, you'll know exactly where your car is, how fast it's going and all that. with the right service, it can be like ONstar. they can also do the unlocking of the door for you, if you lock yourself out.

I think you'll start to see Evo headlights getting stolen as well.
Nothing worse than a thief.

For those of you that do have wheel locks... where do you keep the keys?
You need them with you when you are driving, in case you have a flat, but you don't want them in the car because then all a thief has to do is break into the car and find them....

I had someone try and steal my car the other night. They pried the door handles on both sides by putting a screwdriver into the keyholes. Thats all the damage that was done. I had new locks rekeyed and the handles went right back in. Cost $100.00 to fix. Of course, In south florida, the car was probably bound for the islands. No other damage, so you know that they wanted the car to look perfect.
I hate thiefs and I feel now that I can't leave my car anywhere overnight except in my garage.
