To just add to a few threads, I had my Evo stolen about 3 weeks close to 4 ago, and they didn't get far. the cars engine inmobilizer kicked in and cut the gas off and they got about 200 ft down the road. alarm is a good thing if its loud enough, and a kill switch is even better as long as you dont install it where its easily found. My wheel lock key was missing after I found the car down the road, so be aware that they will come back for your rims. There are also a few different sets of locks for the rims so the thief would have to find the right one for yours. The last thing is a lo jack the system works alittle different then what 19.5psi had mention, I know the company in which the sell lo jacks, the have a thing in ur car that will send out a signal to a receiver, the receiver is at the police station or the company that carries it, and once the receiver is turned on and ur code is punched in the car will be located on the screen, and it does not have t obe close. My word of advice insurance is the best thing, if someone really want your car they will get it, its called a flatbed. and if they want to damage it, they will. Just make sure your insurance is up to par.

possible suggestions

I've had two cars stolen and two jacked for stereo gear....My last car, a $50,000 350whp WRX was jacked for stereo....

As you may know, getting your **** stolen feels very violating..so I've gone low-tech on my EVO for now:

I live in an apartment complex with covered parking....
I bolt one of the wheels to a pole with a massive kryptonite cable lock which cannot be cut with bolt cutters....Inside I have the clutch pedal locked down and the "old school" club on the stearing wheel....I also have two huge flood lights directed on to the car....lastly, I have a 8"x11" sign on the drivers window that reads.....I AM A MEMBER OF THE N.R.A., AND HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO USE NUMEROUS FIREARMS...ONE OF WHICH MAY BE POINTED AT YOUR HEAD RIGHT NOW....

Alarm is going in soon as well

You need them with you when you are driving, in case you have a flat, but you don't want them in the car because then all a thief has to do is break into the car and find them....

Funny, I used to leave mine in the back yard when I was at work... One day I get a call from the Police saying that my house alarm was going off. The dispatcher said, "there was a big dog sitting in the open garage that wouldn't let the officers near the house". I get home to find my garage open with three Animal Control vehicles and four Cop cars out front. Seems someone tried to jack my tools, but the dog jumped the 6" privacy fence and had a snack. Then she almost chewed through the garage door trying to get at the alarm (no one got in the house). The two responding Animal Control guys had to call for back up and it took three of them with their "snare poles" to get her into the back yard again. Now she stays in the house while I'm at work.

Back on topic... I've seen nothing work better to prevent your car from being stolen (driven away) than a good hidden kill switch... I've seen nothing work better to keep people out of the car than to always park in a "high foot traffic" area. In stead of parking out away from the entrance of the mall, I park right at it where everyone could see you jacking with my car. It works well in Texas if you know what I mean. If someone wants your stuff bad enough, they are going to get it though (flatbed/smash and grab)... so stop panicing!!!!

i was wondering the same thing. with the tire width, size and off-set, what other cars out there will these rims fit? i bet some punks driving a civic is trying to get those rims to fit his Civic DX as we speak (trust me, i've seen a Corolla with Integra rims so that's possible)
Well the civic has a very popular off set , which shares it with some Toyota's and same as acura integra's (except ITR) . Besides Civics have a 4 lug patter and the ones running 5 lug (from CTR or ITR ) dont think they would be interested in the Evo rims (if they would to match off set ).

Instead of Low Jack, you guys should consider getting the GPS tracking thing instead. I forget the company that does this but one of my buddy has one and it's cool as hell. With Low Jack, you actually have to be near or around the car to actually find it, plus you're following blinking lights. With the GPS, you'll know exactly where your car is, how fast it's going and all that. with the right service, it can be like ONstar. they can also do the unlocking of the door for you, if you lock yourself out.
From what i understood the way the GPS works is by your alarm , once the alarm is cut then it activates the GPS system . Now the bad thing with that is what about if the alarm is not cut and they tow the car. It does the same thing as the low Jack , you would have to inform them in order to start tracking the car. IT also works of a cecullar signal and what happens if the car is located at an area where there is no signal . Like sometimes it happens with cecullar phones..
I would like to compare the GPS to Teletrack to see what are the differnce between the 2 of them .. But some shops are not carrying the Teletrack anymore or in order to get replacement parts it takes them a while.

They are several companies that make GPS like , mainly the most popular that make alarm systems like viper..

Sounds like you need to move into a better apt.

Flames, the things you have to go through to own an EVO.....you have my respect!

I now live in a so-called 'affluent' neighbourhood but if a thief wants our Evo badly, they're probably gonna get it.

Despite having said that...
...I'll be getting wheel locks and will look into other security systems...
