Socket in transmission

I just had my tranny and t case rebuilt and the shop said they found a 10 mm socket in my 5 speed. They said it had caused very little damage. Has anyone heard of something like this before?

I dunno, it would have been in it for at least 40,00 miles if some one had been in the tranny before I bought it.

Damn, you got really lucky. Good thing they found it before something really bad happened.

Did you get the socket? Seems like it should be your property.

Yeah, I got it. I'm gonna make a clock out of my old tranny guts...maybe a lamp too.

I just was curious because I have seen what foreign objects in other trannys have done and it was never like this.

Just curious - what's the brand name on the socket?

It may have been in there from the factory. I know someone who had a screwdriver inside the mounted/balanced wheel on their Acura from the factory.

nah, but that wouldn't matter. It was inside the transmission, not at the flywheel. I have aluminum tape covering the holes now until I can get some new grommets.
