Help! Question about new EVO.
Help! Question about new EVO.
I ordered a new EVO and asked that it come "fresh
from the dock" . When it arrived, (plastic wrapping
intact) the odometer had
41 miles on it. The dealer tells me he's never seen
a new car with more than 25 miles from the factory.
In addition, every dealer I've talked to claim their EVOS
have less than 7 miles on them.
Is this something to be concerned about?
Did someone at the dock go for a joyride in it?
Was it a "hanger queen" in Japan that they couldn't get
right and had to put a lot of miles on it to fix something?
Should I just go someplace else and get one with fewer
miles?
Thanks in advance for comments.

Tough call, I would probably go somewhere else or ask them to get another one if you're worried about it. You could always see if they would dealer-trade for another one. 41 miles sounds like a lot to be on a brand new car fresh from the dock. Mine had 25 or so when I bought it, and 8 of those were from my test drive.

It does sound like your car was driven to your dealership.
Which is really not a major problem, being 40+ miles...
When I bought mine, my criteria was 50 miles or less
Do a thorough check to make sure everything's intact; if it feels good, look good, then by all means get it.
But it's your money, your call....

Mine also had about 7-8 miles on it when I bought it. But I suppose it depends on how far you are from the docks and everything. We have a huge shipping dock in New Jersey that's not too far from where I got the car. But I've bought BMW's in the past with like 35-40 miles on them.
Considering how cars are loaded and unloaded, I wouldn't sweat it too bad. They're driven on and off boats, on and off trains (sometimes), and on and off trucks. They're not really driven on the open road as far as I know. Maybe yours made a few detours along the way
(bounced around from dealer to dealer or something). Anyway, your dealer should be able to tell you the story. If they don't know, then maybe pass and get a different car.

But I made them PAY for those extra miles!
